I hadn't played much Redemption in the last several months - not since before we got married in August. My schedule doesn't allow going up to too many of the CT/MA tournaments, sadly. But recently, word of the new starter decks got me re-interested again, and my wife Kayleigh has played 3 games with me over the last couple days and wants to play even more! (It's not like I have to twist her arm much - she loves games, and Redemption just got lost in the sea of others we have.) She's got a fierce Gates of Samaria defense in her deck - it doesn't always get going, but when it does, it's hard to stop! We're really excited for the new starters, and I'm especially hoping we can make it to the relatively nearby Nationals.
We've had some good moments in these recent games. I've even had the opportunity to tell Kayleigh the story of Esther when she asked about who the Haman in her defense was. She told me the other day how cool it is for conversion to be a game mechanic. The fact that the bad guys don't have to stay bad, but can repent and then go and do good, struck her as a great thing to have in the game. (Maybe that's why she enjoys her Luke offense so much, especially getting to use Lazarus.)
I'm hoping that when the new starters are released, Kayleigh and I can do a video review of them for BoardGameGeek - the game doesn't have a great reputation there, but if there's good stuff in these decks, with a clear usable rulebook, I'd love to spread the word some more. (If anyone wants to get us an advance copy for this, we could get on this even sooner! Wink wink.)
So yeah, that's it, not much to say except that I like being excited about the game again, and I'm lucky to have such a wonderful wife!
