Greetings! New Player!

Hello All, I just recently picked up the I/J starter decks to get into the game. I did very briefly try it out back in the day with the 1st edition starters, but never got into the game because I didnt know anyone else that played.

Now, I'm getting into it because I am introducing my kids to a number of games, including MTG, so I want to add balance with Redemption! (not to mention to avoid grumbling about the other games from grandparents  :-X)

Anyway, just saying hi! I am finding the game very interesting, but i have tons of questions, so expect to see some posts on the rule boards :D

Welcome!  Glad you have come back.  You will find the game is much better than it was during the first starter decks you had.  Feel free to ask any and all questions you have.  We even have a discord where you can do the same if that is easier for you!

No, the colors to the border don't mean anything. In fact there are some full art variants now that have no border surrounding the artwork, which look pretty slick. The only colors that matter are the ones that fill the icon box denoting which brigade certain card types belong to. Look through the card information and resources on landofredemption.com for a look into the new mechanics and rules.

Borders are aesthetic nothing more.

It should be noted that for the older sets a shiny gold border indicated an ultra rare card or a promotional card. The newer sets employ borderless cards to denote ultra rare cards. This has no impact on gameplay really but for collectors is a neat fact to know. Other than that I am not aware of any other significance to the borders as has been noted by jhendrix and @crashfach2002.
