At the Iowa State tournament this year I got to face off against the legendary Justin Alstad in round 1. I went first and activated Broken Covenant as an Artifact. I then discarded an Evil Character and announced that I was going to draw 3. Justin kindly reminded me that he didn't have any good brigades in play...

Mayhem: $21. Rain Becomes Dust: 50ยข

Watching your opponent play Mayhem through Rain Becomes Dust to shuffle, draw, and discard 6 cards: Priceless

In battle with a card that gave me initiative to play a NT enhancement. I play Haman's Plot and rip it not realizing it had to be NT and HP is obviously not. Then The Schaef (yeah, the one and only) comes over and writes OOPS on one half of my now ripped Plot and MY BAD on the other half. Felt pretty dumb but it has become funnier over time.

That topic actually came up at Iowa state...is a misplayed ripped Plot considered an "irreparable gamestate"?!?  :o

Southeast Regionals 2008: T1 Multi.

I block with Fallen Warrior. I have an occupied Ashdod on the board. I play Joseph's Brothers' Scheme, creating a side battle. I bring in my opponent's Faithful Servant promo and play Sword of Punishment. This of course kills my Fallen Warrior.

The dumbest mistake in my 12 years of playing the game. :P

Booster Draft:

I had the Garden Tomb tin. When I opened my Apostles pack, I saw Emperor Claudius, so I grabbed it thinking that I didn't want my opponents to get it. Early in the first game, I already had Salome and Mary Mother of James, and Emperor Claudius. Two of my opponents had NT heroes, so I put Emperor Claudius in play. I then made a rescue with Mary, banding to Salome, and I got my Garden Tomb. I had Burning Bush in my hand in case my opponent played a battle winner. However, the only opponent who had a Lost Soul had no defense showing and had no rescued LSs. She promptly blocked from hand with The Terrifying Beast, and banded to my Emperor Claudius. Good bye Garden Ladies.  :o

T1-MP:

My opponent used Authority of Christ promo to win a battle. I had King of Tyrus and Prince of this World in my hand. The next turn I put them both into my territory to relieve hand space. My opponent attacked the next turn with Ethiopian Treasurer, and played ... Authority of Christ Promo...  I had forgotten that he was using a 105-card deck (code-named Type 1.5) and thus had two of them.

Red tell them about the Plot at the Dunlap local!! okay fine I will..

I walked up to the table after my game with Mr. Hollywood to find Polarius and Red wrapping up theirs. It was Polarius' turn, and Red had no lost souls in his Land of Bondage.

He plays Angelic Guidance to look at Red's hand.. Searches for a silver card. Takes a couple of Daniel cards off the top of his deck after shuffling with Foretelling Angel.
Draws 2 off of Hur with Provisions. Takes a Daniel card.
Plays Hypocrisy and tells Red to pick up all of his heroes.

We are laughing pretty hard at this point

Plays Wheel Within a Wheel to search his deck.. Grabs another Daniel card.
Activates Urim and Thummim to look at his hand again saying "That's a lot of heroes."  to which we are both bursting in laughter xD

He then activates Gifts of the Magi.
Polarius seems pretty confident at this point and makes a rescue attempt with Hur, choosing his 1/1 Babylonian Soldiers which he may have recently picked up off of Foretelling Angel to block, making Hur and his foot look pretty funny stepping down on the 1/1 bab soldiers xD

I turn to Red and say.. "Draw him some souls, Jay"

Sure enough he shuffles all but one and draws 7 new cards allowing Polarius to draw 7 and play Son of God/New Jerusalem on the souls Red drew and Red immediately played mayhem afterward,

then dropped his head on to the table. So much hand abuse. That's an interesting discussion all on it's own with the psychology of Redemption and hand knowledge.

It was pretty hilarious, I wish we had recorded this moment xD Jay is a great sport but he was also clearly exhausted (be sure to eat well and drink lots of water! misplays happen when we are hungry/tired!)

Polarius then informed us after the game ended he realized that he had gone in with a Cherubim/Aaron/Moses band which Red ripped a plot on, which technically should have kicked out Aaron. I got even more of a laugh out of it because in the game before this one Red asked me if he played plot on my Cornelius while I have Herod's Temple out if he had to rip it or not if Herod's Temple was used to instead the discard. I told him yes it would have to be ripped before Herod's Temple would be able to trigger.

I still have the ripped plot in my binder to remind me of this funny moment ^^

Red is a great player and definitely made a huge comeback at State.. I'll let him tell you about it!

You'll still get the block if he loses the side-battle! Not necessarily a bad play.

My brother and I were competing for first place in T1 2P. I had Guardian up and he used Falling Away. I told him that I he had to take his own away but I was merciful and let him take it back. He forgets to discard it for some reason and tries to use it again on my turn. This time I didn't let him take it back. I also use my own Falling Away. He just lost two points. Despite all of this he still comes back and wins 5-4. He won a total of 7 souls that game, wins t1-2p and to top it all off he used a deck I built...

I had one game way back when, just after disciples came out. I was running disciples with red Peter and Andrew, just so I could play battle cry and walking on water. Was playing teams and went in for a rescue with Andrew, planning on banding to all my disciples. my opponent blocks with Fallen Warrior and plays Joseph in Prison. I had a brilliant idea. I used battle cry, and banded to every one of his Genesis heroes. then I banded to all of his opponents heroes as well. I then died. I dont think I had to block a single time after that rescue. it was great.

Quote from: Battle Cry
Interrupt the battle and band into battle as many Heroes from holder's territory as holder chooses.

I make mistakes like that too sometimes.

I never left the tournament venue until the end of the tournament days.

but I have a moment, it happened in a franklin tn local back in either 06 or 07 (when I debuted "the gloves") and in the final type in the tournament was multiplayer, and not just any multiplayer but it was a 6 man multiplayer game with not just me but also polarius and colin and I couldn't remember whose turn it was but at the time I think I was still using this fbtn banding deck with the classic banding of tribal elder/jake/captain of the host but anyways I couldn't remember who I blocked with but after the play I made, I became public enemy #1 when I played the ever ruthless Wrath of Satan which sparked the whole entire table just in a fit as they all just shouted "OHHHHHH!!!!" lol moment I wont ever forget but to me it was the funniest tournament moment ive ever had

Since I have not played in a single Redemption tournament in the 13 years I've collected cards, I do not have a funniest moment.  However, years ago I would go to my parent's house on Saturday night for Pinochle tournaments.  Usually it would be me and several of my sisters.

One night it was my father and me playing against my mom and one of my sisters.  The cards were certainly going in the favor of my father and me,  After several "hands" we had accumulated a very large lead and had enough points to win the match.  Actually we had more than double the points they had.  Since we had finished the match earlier than usual, my mom and sister requested one more game (hand).  My father and I thought it over and since the only way they could now win the match would be to take all of the tricks in the next hand.  The chances of this happening we thought was very slim to none, so we agreed to more hand.

For those who do not believe in miracles happening these days, I'm here to say they do occur.  My mom and sister pulled every trick the next hand and won the match.  It took a long time for my father and me to live this defeat down.  The phrase "One more hand!" became the rallying cry of every team that lost a match and who wanted a chance to come back and win.

We, as a family, have laughed about this many times over the years.  Sadly though, after my father died 20 years, we have stopped getting together for Pinochle tournaments.  They were good times.
