im buying a new laptop, and i was wondering if there is some online tool that would allow me to back up the contents of my hard drive so i can transfer them to my new laptop. im trying to avoid buying an external hard drive to do so. do i have any other options?

Try dropbox.com!

Well, if your laptop has any downloaded games, GameStop secrets, credit and debit card information, or Chuck E. Cheese coupons, then you can upload all your hard drive data to YourMathTeacher.com.

after downloading the dropbox thing, it appears that i can only save 2gb worth of content. :( i have about 200gb of content to back up...does anyone else know any other options?

You don't want to go to an external HD? That leaves you pretty high and dry. a lot of sites offer that much storage, but I don't know of any that are free. Mozy is probably the cheapest. unlimited storage for 4.95.

Yeah, it has a limit, so you would have to move a little, then delete it, then move a little more. Kinda annoying, but cheap!

i would just a drive and then back up the laptop once a week and store the drive 1 floor or two above where the laptop is just in case somthing happens to the laptop...the most you lose is a week or two of infomation.
Personaly i back up about 1 TB of info, every 3 days wiith this system.

Try box.net or idrive.com for a free option, but I'd also recommend Mozy over an external, as they have offsite + redundancy going for them.
