For all you Kentucky Fans...

Carolina is creeping up on you in all time wins!  Honestly, I think we have a good shot at passing you THIS year.  The Wildcats are now only 14 games ahead of Carolina.
On another note, last night's game was AWESOME!  Aside from the cheap shot on Tyler Zeller (and a little lazy UNC play in the 2nd half), the game went as I would expect.  Now after hearing for years of Kentucky this and Kentucky that, I think their fans are climbing back into the closet.
  Oh what a sweet game!

You of course can't expect this KY fan to take such sacrilege in silence :)

I will admit that UNC has a great team, a great coach, and a great history.  However, they pale in comparison to KY.  Not only do we have the most wins of all time (unlikely to be passed this year), but we also have 7 national championships.  How many does UNC have?

I do feel bad for Tyler Zeller's wrist and hope that it recovers quickly.  And I also hope that KY's program recovers from their current malaise to once again start beating UNC in our yearly meetings unlike recent history.  However, in spite of mediocre seasons of late, all of us true KY fans still support our team and are definitely not climbing in any closets :)

Here is my math
Aprox.  36-3 Carolina team  +  a 21-12 Kentucky team = Carolina being the new winningest school in college history.  It is entirely possible and plausible for it to happen.
After seeing replays, it might not have been a "cheap shot" by Harris.  I still disagree with his decision to try and block Zeller's dunk, but cheap it was not.

As for the championships, it may take time but we will get that one too.  That will be the last record you hold over us.   Your 7 to our currently 4 (if we manage to not crack under pressure or injuries and get it this year, then 5)  We will be loaded for 6 next year (even though freshmen talent rarely ever win one).

On a somewhat related note, we U of Minn fans sure appreciate Kentucky letting Tubby Smith go...Gophers have been down in recent years but are clearly headed in the right direction with Tubby at the helm.  :)

I appreciate your kindness towards Tubby.  I was always a HUGE Tubby fan.  Even when most of the other KY fans were sick of 10-loss seasons and failure to get to the final four, I still thought he was one of the top 5 coaches in the country.  I was ashamed of my team when they kicked him out, and happy for Minn to get such a great coach.  I wish him well there, and hope that he makes all the doubters in my state look dumb.

Our new coach is a better recruiter, but there is no coach in the country who can do more with the talent he has than Tubby Smith.  He took Pitino's scrubs to a national championship.  In fact, the coaching change, coupled with the fact that I can no longer watch my team play without going to someone else's house, has cause a big drop in my level of interest in KY basketball.  They're still my team, I just don't care as much.

I would like to necropost to answer this question:  we now have 5!  (6 if the 1927 Championship is counted--I don't know why it isn't...maybe because it is NIT?)
Nevertheless, you are right with the winningest school.  We didn't get you this year.  According to wikipedia answers, we are 8 away but by my calculations--they missed 4 tourney games at the moment.  So I think we are 4 games away.  8) There's always next year....here's hoping Calapari doesn't pull those recruits to UK from Memphis.   :prayer:

With all due respect, I think UCLA has to fit into the "greatest" argument somehow since they have won 11 national championships.

Yeah, but those were all in a row.  UNC has shown continued greatness. After all, anyone can get lucky for a decade or so.  ;)

Oh, well in that case, Kentucky gets disqualified as well, since four of their titles came from 1948-1958. UNC's roller-coaster greatness goes unchallenged.  ;)

Roller-coaster is a bit exaggerated.  I think of it as sustained greatness.  In my time on Earth, I can only remember 1....1 bad Carolina team.  The other schools mentioned so far have had several.  So in my mind, Carolina's greatness is unchallenged.

I kinda hate UNC for the same reason I hate the Yankees.

Roy Williams should not have moved to UNC.  He was doing fine at Kansas.  For all this talk about UNC's sustained greatness, they still are only tied for third with my Beloved Hoosiers for most titles so I think I will not drink the "Carolina Blue" flaovred kool-aid and sit content to continue challenging UNC's "unrivaled" greatness.  ;)

I don't hate UNC or IU in spite of them being big rivals for UK.  They are both quality programs with a long history of greatness.  The same can be said for Kansas, UCLA, and a few other schools.

When it comes to hatred of a rival, I have to turn to Duke and Louisville :)

Although a Big 10 fan in general, I prefer the Arizonas, Villanovas, NC States and Texas Westerns.  I'm not a fan of the big factory schools.  I disliked Duke for this reason until these past two years with Kyle Singler.  His younger brother, E.J., was just named top HS basketball player in Oregon.  (They both attended my son's HS.)  He will be attending U of Oregon.  Hmmm, I need to go check the schedule to see if Duke will play the Ducks.  LOL, Duke or Duck!  Almost like fight or flight.   :D

I actually like Pitino as well, but I figure that any recruit that is willing to come to KY is deciding between UL and UK.  Therefore, I have to root for UL to lose all the time so that all the best recruits choose UK :)
