FACT 1. FOOTBALL IS NOT A GAME OF VIOLENCE.SHOW ME ANYTHING THAT SAYS AGAINST THIS FACT.
FACT 2. Dont say football is violent unless you have something to support your judgment.

PLEASE STATE A FACT OR SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN PROVE RIGHT! >:(
YELLING IN CAPS LOCK DOES NOT MAKE YOUR POINT VALID! NOR DOES IT MAKE YOU RIGHT!

....
Very true, not trying to be valid,I am "valid".And literally Krazyprez, tell me something against my statement that is not valid.

Thank you.

I was interested in this thread for a while, but now it looks like this

Bubble Boy: I DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL SO I'M GOING TO TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT LIKING IT WITH FALLACIES!
Lambo: *sound reason, sound reason, dictionary citation, sound reason*
Kiddies: SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
Bubble Boy: FOOTBALL MAKES ME CRY!
Lambo: *sound reason, sound reason, dictionary citation, sound reason*

Why don't we cut through all the noise. Bubble Boy, was one of your friends or loved ones recently injured in a football game? Did you recently attend a bible study that put football down? Why don't we talk about the issue instead of hiding behind blinds while dancing around it?

Lambo, I'm surprised you didn't point out that if "violent" sports are the most popular, Rugby should be on top.

Now don't get me wrong, I love BB and he's one of the best contributors on this board, but I can smell euphemism and hidden motivation a mile away and there is a ton of it here.

I just want to say that I'm really sorry. I don't know what it is, but I've been a real jerk about this whole thing, and I'm not really sure why. I don't even want to argue. Football is fine - it's actually a great way to meet people and stay active and find entertainment - there's nothing wrong about it. I guess I just don't like it. I'm sorry, I had no reason to start this thread. Lambo and Pol, you are both correct. I'm sorry for wasting your time, and for insulting everyone. :-[

I completely agree with Pol that there is some sort of hidden motivation behind this thread.  The difficulty is figuring out what it is.  Both high school, college, and professional football seasons are over, and have been for at least a couple months.  So people aren't really talking about them much right now anyway.  The only think I can figure is that there is some girl that BB likes, and she is annoying him by being too enamored with some football jock instead of BB.  Of course this is completely conjecture :)

A few errors exist in this thread.

1. If by saying "fighting is accepted in hockey", you mean it carries a 5 minute penalty, you are correct. If your referring to how refs don't intervene until one player is grounded (typically), I'd like to respectfully ask you to intervene the next time you see two 200 pound guys throwing down.

2. Football scholarships are NOT NOT NOT NOT the best way to get to college for free RED. This lie has perpetrated America. The best way to go to college for free is to work hard in school, get good grades, and learn how to write well. This includes grammar, spelling, style, and flow of your essays. You might not get into school such as Notre Dame, but I gurantee you that you will have a better chance of paying nothing to go to a school that will give you a good education.

3. Oregon's LaGarrette Blunt was suspended for a total of 8 games. The original suspension was indefinately and he was reinstated later in the year. It should also be noted he threw the punch after the game - not during it. Therefore, I find it to be a weak argument that senseless violence is not permitted during a football game.

I feel it incumbent on me to defend my personal favorite sport, hockey. It is by far less violent than football. Football necessitates contact, and in fact, favors you when you put a player on the ground via a pancake block, stiff arm, broken tackle, etc. By doing this, you are directly helping your team win by elimating threats for the runner. In Hockey, hitting players does little to help you put the puck in the net, which is the goal of the game. Hitting merely serves as a means to establish yourself as a team that is not afraid and that will work hard to win. Occasionally it serves as a means of seperating the puck from the puck carrier. But by no means does a team have to hit to win. Find me a team in football who does not hit and wins.

So the Saints offensive line didn't hit people? That's interesting. I'm from Pittsburgh. So you can just imagine about how happy I am about Ovechkin.

Sidenote: Washington's Powerplay went 1-33 against Montreal. Pittsburgh went 4-4 in Game 1 of their Series against Montreal tonight. Just saying.

As for you RED, does this quote look familiar?

You also don't realize how many people are put though college though sports do you? the number 1 way to get though college is football schoarships

Everyone is trying to kill each other or everyone disagrees with you and you don't like it? People can diss what they want to diss as long as they do it respectfully with factually backing. I haven't seen any reason to think that BB or Lambo or anyone else involved here does not have factual backing. Everyone has provided something, even if it's weak.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Its gonna be a wings/pens final again, with the wings getting revenge :) (This is probably completely untrue, I know very little about hockey outside of what I hear on sportscenter :) )

That's a shame, because SportsCenter probably has better coverage of Pamplona's running of the bulls than it does of Hockey.

Well then what's the point of refs? Rules that can't be enforced? Why have rules at all? Sounds violent.  ;)

When Adrian Peterson stiffs arms people to the ground, it's self defense. We can all agree that self defense is good.  ;D

This is basically what any other event can offer (Redemption for example), except this one is exceptionally violent.
Ok I skipped every other page when I saw this. Football exceptionally violent? Sounds like you can not tackle someone so you just say that.
Tackling someone is not violent, I would consider fishing more violent. And you said something about talent? You go run a 4.4 forty or go catch a pass on the run with a defensive player covering you. Quit hating on athletes, go work out or run cuz this post is pathetic.
