You rarely ever see violent acts on the football field and if you do they are often followed by a severe punishment.
I see two armies of 200lbs+ giants running full speed into each other every play, and I don't see them getting a severe punishment. I also see these massive guys tackling an unsuspecting quarter back whenever they can.

That sounds violent IMHO.

So, in other words, you dislike EVERY sport because they're violent?
You're correct that I dislike sports in general, but I find it coincidental that the most violent ones are the most popular as well.

You evidently ignored the definition of violence.

So, do you agree rock climbing is violent as well? It meets your criteria you have provided in this thread... which is simply that it puts peoples health and safety at risk... and I'll bet that more people have died while rock climbing then when playing football.

How so? I agree that Football doesn't promote violence, but you said that you rarely see violent acts in Football and I disagree. I see many illegal tackles and whatnot every game, with the intent to harm the opposing players.

Man alive, you don't give a guy a break, do you? There is a difference between violent and dangerous. I may not be the most eloquent person on the boards, but hopefully we all know what violent is when we see it. Football is violent. Those who say it is not are kidding themselves, and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

You also don't realize how many people are put though college though sports do you?
Yes I do, but I don't see how that helps anyone's point.

Also are you american BB?
Again, what does this have to do with anything?

I've already explained why I feel football is not violent.

Boxing is violent. Wrestling is violent. In those sports, the complete objective of the game is to injure your opponent to the point that they can't get up.

Football, you're not supposed to injure the other players, and as said before... deliberately hurting another player will result in being removed from the game and/or a suspension.

Football is dangerous, but it is not violent.

RED, no offense, but you are so hopeless...

Hm...I thought you got captured by game rule. ;) Seriously though, football is a sport which opens up so many opportunities for violence it isn't even funny. And people can be seen taking those opportunities multiple times every day. Sports give an excuse to be violent, and justified violence is violence at its prime...

Almost everything in life can open up opportunities for violence. Is driving now violent as well? People with road rage show many violent tendancies, many people die from driving, and it generally puts your health and safety at risk.

I still hold that an activity is only to be deemed violent if the OBJECTIVE of the activity is to injure another person.

Lamborgini_diablo is stating a fact.Bubbleboy, your stating your opinion.
Actually, both of us are enforcing our own opinions. And who are you to call me clueless? What shred of compelling evidence have you provided for anything so far?

I still hold that an activity is only to be deemed violent if the OBJECTIVE of the activity is to injure another person.
You have the right to maintain this, but I judge the level of violence of an activity by the amount of intentional harm inflicted through it.

And I actually live in North North Mexico. ;)
