Just like in the Treasures of Sierra Madre they don't say, "We don't need no stinking badges." In fact, it's something along the lines of "Badges? Who needs those?" - Watch the movies again.-C_S

Quote from: COUNTER_SNIPER on May 26, 2010, 11:09:43 AMyet SO MANY people remember these quotes the exact same way; I wonder why.I often find myself trying to relate a funny quote to a friend or family member, and in so doing I once in a while botch the words up a bit. However, if the friend has not actually seen what I am describing, or does not remember it, but we both like it anyway, we form a fond but incorrect memory of it the way I describe it, and get used to quoting it that certain way. That friend may then proceed to do the same with another friend, and he with another friend, etc., until it spreads enough that the majority of people remember the quote incorrectly. I can imagine this same general process might be catalysed by a movie review from a popular magazine, for example. So, that's my theory.
And "Play it again, Sam" was never spoken in Casablanca.

However, there is a similar line where Darth Vader says, "I did not kill your father, I am your father!!" Thank you.Just like in the Treasures of Sierra Madre they don't say, "We don't need no stinking badges." In fact, it's something along the lines of "Badges? Wash: Leaf on the wind! LEAF ON THE WIND!
This same teacher gives us extra credit for writing 'Shakspearean' insults on our quote quizzes from The Taming of the Shrew.
Ewan McGregor (The Men Who Stare at Goats): "What's a Jedi Knight?"
The sad part is that this quote pretty much sums up the entire movie's comical approach.
I'd post the whole show if I could...
