Don't know about movies but probably one of the best anime series was Escaflowne (the movie was bad though).

FF 7 Advent Children wasn't anime ;) It was CGI.

Mine: Show: Gundam Wing holds a special place being it was my first true anime. (Though I have many favorites)

There has not been a FF anime. The Spirits Within and Advent Children are both CGI.
