RBI's are important.  If the Braves had a couple more, they'd still be in it ;).

Actually Runs are more important.  A team can win a game with no RBI's, but they cannot win a game without any Runs.   ;)

haha, very true.  But only Golden Gloves, Wins, and RBI's were spoken about.  I guess Wins woulda worked too, haha.

Right, those are good criteria to judge a team on, but not a player.

If Nick Punto was given 1000 ABs in a season, all of them with RISP, he is going to get 100+ RBIs.
If Albert Pujols, in the same season, was given 100 ABs, none of them with runners on base, he'll be lucky to break 10 RBIs
Albert Pujols is still the better hitter.

Carl Pavano had 17 wins last season.
King Felix had 12 wins.
King Felix is still the better pitcher.

Jeter has 4 gold gloves.
(Insert almost any other SS) has fewer.
(Insert almost any other SS) is still the better defensive SS.

Ouch. I've never broken a rib before, but I can imagine breaking 10 ribs would hurt.

I agree with you man on the wins and GG's but only a bit on the rbi's.  But...With all things equal, which they never are:

Player A has 1000 at bats with 200 RISP - 100 RBI

Player B has 1000 at bats with 200 RISP - 33 RBI

Player A is more clutch than Player B

p.s. I've seen lots and lots of runners stuck on base this year by my team.

If both are given the same amount of ABs with the same position, absolutely. But that isn't the case. So it is more effective to look at batting average with RISP. (Maybe OPS with men on base?)

BA with RISP would work, Don't think OPS helps that much.  I'd take a single everytime some1 was in RISP, then hit or miss doubles and HRs.  I'm a small ball guy though, not the 3-Run HR guy.

No wonder your team leaves guys on base, with that attitude...

I said OPS with men on base beings that includes first base. A double or greater has a good chance of scoring a guy on first, but a single has next to no chance (even if the guy on first is Carlos Gomez, Carl Crawford, or Jim Thome). That being said, thats why I kinda put a question mark by it. BA with RISP is the best statistic for clutch imo.

I agree 100%.  Jason Heyward had a few times when he scored from first on a single, but a couple of them might have been hit n' runs.

Can we change the name of this thread to "the world series" or something like that?

Do the Rangers have any chance of winning now?  Is Game 3 a must win for the Rangers?  Can I make a post with nothing but questions?

You can, but I can also post with nothing but statements. I don't know, I quit watching when the Yankees and Phillies lost. I'm sure every game is a must-win for the Rangers if they wish to be World Champs.

The Giants scored more runs in the first two games than I expected them to in a 7 game series.

I hope the Rangers can pull through, like 20% of teams have won after going 0-2. I just don't want to see the worst team ever buy Cliff Lee, and he'll be more likely to sign with the Rangers if they win the WS.
