Fantasy Football Trade, NEED HELP.
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:33:33 AM »

I'm in a pickle. Eli Manning and Greg Olsen have byes this week, so I need to trade for a QB and a TE.

The guy I'm looking at trading with needs receivers, which I have a plethora of. He has a plethora of QB's and RB's, so here's how the trade (roughly) looks:

MY:
Terrell Owens (tough games left include 2 against Pittsburgh and one against Baltimore)
Santonio Holmes (tough games left include 1 each against New England, Miami and Pit)
Marques Colston (tough games left include 1 each against Pit and Baltimore, with a week 10 bye)

HIS:
Ben Roethlisberger
Arian Foster (or LT, or maybe Darren McFadden)
Aaron Hernandez

I also have available to trade:
Kareem Huggins (RB, TB)
Joe Nedney (K, SF)
Arizona (D/ST)

However, I only want to trade 2 of the 3 receivers since I'll need one when Brandon Lloyd has a bye week. Any advice would be uber helpful!

Arian Foster is worth all of your players you listed times 5.

Ben Roethlisberger is probably worth all of your receivers times 2.

Aaron Hernandez is probably comparable to Santonio Holmes, so you might be able to get that trade done.

I would cut Kareem Huggins and Joe Nedney(if you have another better kicker) and just pickup the best available QB and TE vs bad teams this week.

After this week, drop those 2 guys and pickup whatever else you need the following week.

Master_Chi, is this a Yahoo league?

If so, use the Evaluate Trade button to see how it pans out over the rest of the season.  Great tool.

No, it's a Fox Sports league, of which I am undefeated and would like to keep it that way...

Unless you can start 3 QB's in this league, I'm pretty sure this guy will do any trade you send him, haha.

QB's:
Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Kyle Orton
Big Ben

I can see how Big Ben was probably a late pick due to the uncertainty of his suspension, and Orton is definitely no better than a mid to late pick, but how does one guy end up with both Manning and Brees in a 12 team league? Plus to have several top RBs, that's just crazy.  :P

Keep in mind though, he only has like 2 WR's, so he may have traded them for the QB's and RB's, or his draft order was terrible.

I'd say that trade is in your favor.  Then if you needed to you could go out and trade Big Ben for 2 stud receivers(Better than TO and Colston), or a stud receiver and stud TE, or a Upper 2nd Tier RB.  I'm pretty sure Eli is this year's MVP, so you should be fine at QB, i'm baised though ;).

Colston is bad. He's only gotten one td this year and that's the week after I trade him away.

He usually has some good yardage, which was the only reason I kept him on my roster. Henderson and Meachem are Brees' TD guys.

I was debating whether to start Hines Ward over Colston, but when Ward put up 19.1 points this week, Colston dropped to low man on the totem pole. And TO isn't doing all that good this year, especially for, well, being TO.

I'd make that trade.  The Saints will probably get going and Brees' numbers should really pickup.  Ward and TO are Ok, But Brees is a potential beast.  Roy Williams doesn't have much value at all though.  I'd see if you can get him to give you a better WR in the trade to make it even better.

The only other WR's he's got are Lee Evans (BUF) and Jeremy Maclin (PHI).

Also, in one of my other leagues, should I start Peyton Manning or Big Ben? Peyton is facing Houston (projected 24.5 FP) and Big Ben is facing NO (projected 20.2 FP)?

EDIT: Just found out Jon Kitna is available to pick up from Free Agency. I'm super tempted to pick him for the week since he's facing Jacksonville, the league's WORST defense (Romo is out, isn't he?). Should I abandon the trade and just pick up Kitna?

I like Maclin better than Roy myself.  And with those two options, I'd start Peyton.

Or, I'll type it here.

Kitna didn't do anything vs the Giants when he came in on Monday night, so I'm not sure he would get you a whole lot of points this week.  Also I would say that both Evans and Maclin are better than Roy Williams.  I'd probably take them both over Roy even with Romo, but without romo, Roy is third, easily, imo.

If you get either Evans or Mac, that will be pretty equal to TO or Hines...a little worse probably.  But if you get Brees, you could trade him for a superstud WR, or keep him if he starts playing like he did last year.

Probably since the Giants are THE pass-rush defense. Jacksonville, however, stinks worse than the worst sucky team possible. I picked up Kitna anyway, and still have an open slot in my roster.

I'd like to keep Ward pretty much at all costs, and I'm only looking for a bye-week replacement, not a permanent starter. He has explicitly stated he's not gonna trade Peyton or Ben, and I'm still not sure about Brees. UGH, Fantasy football is going to give me an ulcer.

Try and thoroughly convince me why I should trade my top WR (maybe 2nd to Brandon Lloyd) for a QB who *might* break out later in the season.

EDIT: In another league, should I start Kenny Britt over Hines Ward? Seems like a stupid question, but Britt has proven himself as an elite fantasy starter already.

If you look at maclin's numbers, it's really an upgrade in points over both ward and owens.  So if he's included, He'll be an upgrade over the receiver he's be'n traded for.  As far as the Brees part, that's a bit more tricky.  You've got Eli, and Eli is my boy, but Eli's numbers are less than Brees and Brees is struggling...so, that's a call you'll have to make.  You could always get Brees for this week and then try to trade him for at least a TO/Ward comparable receiver next week.  That way you win either way, but then you might not get any bites on a trade for Brees.  It's tough to say.  Also, the cowboys are a complete mess...even vs the Jags(which you never know, they could put up 40), I'd say they'll tank this week.

By tank, do you mean they'll absolutely dominate, or absolutely suck?

EDIT: Maybe TO and Colston for just Brees? That should be able to get me Brees, and then I can trade Brees later for a good receiver if he starts picking up.
