Hey Guys, (and Gals)
This Sunday night (Jan 31 2010 @ 8 pm) on ABC they will air the Lexingon NC Home Makeover. I was Blessed to be part of the construction of that home. The family is very deserving and I can't possibly express in words what I took away from the experience.
I have worked long days before, but never 18-20 hrs running construction crews. I share the builders last name but we are not related and I don't work for his company. I just went in to help and he found out my skill level and put me in charge of a couple good sized projects.
I will say that I have a new outlook on the show and will definetly do it again if given the opportunity. I don't know if anyone will see me working on the actual show, but I can tell you where to look (maybe). The best chance you have to see me is (depending on the take they use) the time when Ty comes running out and screams "we have the keys". The director put me on Ty's right (screen left) as he runs out the front door. I was there for 2 out of 3 of the takes they did. As far as actual work (not the hollywood "for show" work) I was in charge of the wooden Beams in the Foyer, the Beaded Celing in the Dining Room/Kitchen. I helped install the wooden Bookshelves in the Dining room and Put in alot of the other trim as well.
I will say that if anyone has a chance to do this, no matter your skill level, it is very much worth it. And not just for the free food (which was great) I met alot of people that will be longtime friends through that experience.
I say Blessings on the family and I hope you will all pray for the mother's recovery from cancer so she can watch her girls grow up and not have to face life without thier mother.
