Were there any conservatives running, because if there were I would have voted for them.

Yeah, I was never able to finish watching that movie. Both times I tried, I fell asleep twenty minutes in. And I wasn't even tired either time. It was just a sleep-inducing movie.

I had the opposite problem. I fell asleep prior to starting it, and woke up just in time for his dumb dance at the end. I have no desire to watch the rest of that movie.

So this is your first, and she's running for reelection?
...and she wasn't even elected the first time?  (Hey, we did that too!)

My brother got it for christmas a few years ago and I played a game against him and it was awesome!!!
Since then I've really liked it.
Too bad you can't really get it that much here in Australia.

So this is your first, and she's running for reelection?

We had Kevin Rudd as prime minister in 2007 and then a month ago his deputy kicked him out and put herself in with the rest of her supporters so this is really her first election as prime minister.

You guys get that???

She formed a Ku to overthrow your current prime minister and no one stopped her?

We're much more efficient here in the US of A.  We rig it all up before the election even happens.

Also: it's spelled Coup, but pronounced Ku.  Thanks a lot, Babel-builders.

Hmm, are either of the candidates worth voting for?  THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION: I didn't see a reason to vote in the last American election because I thought both candidates were dirt bags...  Well, you might call one an "Old, Wind Bag" but neither seemed quite prepared to truly lead our country.  So this makes me leery of voting for politicians because most of them seem crooked IMHO.  Good luck on getting a good winner/ I hope Australia has some "better" quality politicians.

I've heard a great theory that those most likely to run for office are least likely to be suited for it.

Don't waste your vote, vote for Jon Stewart!  He'll only bow to the late night comedian lobby.

I like that theory...  My vote for the Australian election would be for the woman if she hasn't made any major mistakes while being the PM, after all, you at least have an idea of what she may/may not do :)

So who won the election?

Ok. Voting was on Saturday and is classified the closest election in Australian history.
They are still counting the votes because we have a preferential voting system.
So far Labour (Julia Gillard) with 73 seats won and Liberal (Tony Abbot) also with 73 seats won.
Other parties together have only one 4 (Independents with 3 and Greens with 1)
There are 5 seats still in doubt.
