in honor of Earth day ever one should make a green deck! all green! Green offense or PG Defense or better yet use cards that have images like trees and land and stuff lol. that would be a challenge.

Well, iam glad to see that as christians we are leading the way in environmental protection.  It seems so refreshing to see so many christians posting in favor of the rape of the natural world, when God clearly called us to be good stewards of his gift to us..

But go ahead!  Jump right in bed with Corporate intrests and environmental mis-management because clearly they have the earths best intrests in heart.  and of course..If JESUS were here, he would clearly slam another 64 oz big gulp as he cruised down the road in his new H3 leaving a carbon footprint big enough to stop a team of oxen in their tracks.

seriously, go ahead an align conservative Christianity..or any christianity as far as that goes with those intrests...God loves a strong economy..ESPECIALLY at the expense of the earth...its in the bible...

I don't think we should be encouraging Christians to "jump right in bed" with anyone but their wives.  ;)

Conservatives are all about personally-policed conservation.  Check this out:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp

For my part, my family:
- regularly fills our recycle can, while our trash can is usually less than half full each week.
- bought a house that was close to where I work (less than a mile and a half), so that I ride my bike to work every day (on very rainy days I'll get a ride).
- own only one car.  In the 10 years we've owned it, it has accumulated only about 60,000 miles.
- installed energy efficient windows and insulation
- walk to the grocery store when we only want a few smaller items (it is about a half mile away).

The principles of conservation are good for individuals (in general, they mean fatter wallets and thinner bellies), but work best when the person doing it cares (as Christians should), and isn't being forced to do it by a big-government politicians (many of whom are hypocritical when it comes to conservation).

My comments were aimed at those I percieved to be thumbing their nose at the environmental movement (which mainly consists of private citizens)

ANd while conservation is laudable

it did not reduce the Acid rain that was devastating forests in the Appalachian mountains during the 70s and 80s.

It did not eliminate the use of lead in gasoline

it did not eliminate the use of CFC's which have devastated the ozone layer.

All of these were implimented using the imperfect system of government that we have.  If the Government had not stepped in, we would all still be paying the social cost of these corporate practices with our lives.

Politicians may be hypocritical, but that doenst mean that the policies that they impliment are always hypocritical.  and sometimes big government has to be the catcher in the rye for those who are unable see the big picture.  if left to our own devices we likely would not have dealt with the Ozone layer until we all got skin cancer and it was too late.
