Yes they were, but they're ignoring historical fact because it conflicts with the theme of the game or something like that

Because all we know about the Magi from the Bible was that they followed the star to Bethlehem and worshiped Jesus as the King. We don't know if they were really saved later on or not (at least as far as I know, but I'm not a history buff), but being that they worshiped Jesus, they are heroes for the purpose of the game. They also saved His life by recognizing that Herod had malicious intentions and avoiding Herod after they'd found where Jesus lived. That sounds like something a hero would do.

Learn to read and leave your past arguments aside, that's not what he is asking.

The Magi are heroes because the Bible depicts them as worshiping baby Jesus.

Cactus is not ignoring historical fact at all. Being among the wisest men in the world, the Magi had copies of the books of the prophets and recognized when Jesus was born. God gave us the skies for "times and seasons". There is a difference between biblical astrology (The Magi) and a modern horoscope.

First Then why are Astrologers evil?
Second You are assuming quite a bit, which is fine just don't state it as if it was fact

And the astrologers are both pale green and crimson- Assyrian and Babylonian. Which means they were from cultures that didn't worship Yahweh as Lord, making them not practice Biblical astrology.

Completely off-topic, but being mentioned to avoid confusion: Astrologers have the Babylonian identifier, not the Assyrian. I think they were given pale green so that they could be more versatile with a Magician deck.

I just didn't want a new player to read this thread and start using Assyrian Archer to band to Astrologers.  ;)

First, Because they practiced witchcraft. Second, how would the Magi know about a Messiah if they didn't have the prophets' scrolls?

Second, how would the Magi know about a Messiah if they didn't have the prophets' scrolls?
It is highly likely that the Magi would have access to the scrolls of the prophets. After the Return, many Jews remained in Babylon and its environs; in fact, one of the later collections of Jewish writings was called the "Babylonian Talmud." There would also be records of the work of Daniel, who was a high-ranking Babylonian and Persian official, if not also of Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael. "Magi" as a designation is not equivalent to "astrologer"; although they probably studied astrology/astronomy (in the ancient world there was a fine line between them), they also would have studied a much broader range of subjects, including the religious writings of other cultures.

As far as later Christian tradition, there are accounts of the later conversion and works of the Magi, but these fall into the realm of unverified legends and stories.

I am sure the reason they are heroes is that stated above: they came to worship Jesus, and then acted to save His life.

A better question: Why are they purple brigade, since they weren't kings (despite the Christmas carol), rather than green (they were able to read signs and determine that the King of the Jews had been born, which I think makes them more like prophets)?

Yes a green NT prophet with low numbers that can search for an artifact
What could possibly go wrong?

An NT artifact. And he didn't say that they were prophets, just that they are more like prophets than kings.

Your a really negative person.

Now was that really necessary? Just because he takes a different viewpoint and is prone to sarcasm doesn't give you a right to say this about him. It's these little comments that get everyone riled up and cause unnecessary tension. Please remember to keep your posts friendly, for the betterment of the community. Thank you gentlemen. :)

Actually I think that Alex's last couple posts have been an experiment of his to say things directly instead of sarcastically (which is improvement imo).  I do agree with you Britta that it would've been better for him to have attacked the post instead of the person.  For instance, he could have said, "Many of your posts lately have been come across very negatively."
