Title: Congratulations to Cactus Game Design!
Post by: Rrulez on June 03, 2009, 09:39:42 PM
I recently discovered that Redemption CCG is the oldest collectable/customizable card game still going strong except for Magic: The Gathering.

Congratulations Rob Anderson!

Thank you.  The players and tournament hosts have as much to do with that as do I.  So really, Thank you!

Even so, isn't Vampire: the Eternal Struggle (originally Jyhad) still going?  I don't move in those circles so, I am not sure but I thought the game was still in print and getting tournament support.  That would make the list of long running viable games:

Magic: the Gathering - 1993
Vampire: the Eternal Struggle - 1994
then
Redemption - 1995.

vampire had a short 'break' for awhile, but yes, it is still running.

legend of the five rings also came out in 1995, and it is still running.

Chief is correct.  Vampire was out for a while, then got dumped, then picked up by another developer a few years later.  The current iteration of Vampire is still in publication.

Still, 14 years with no breaks and still a competitive game...Marvel comics has had 2 CCG come out and fail in that time. (Overpower and VS) I personally think that this is a testament to Cactus Game Design, and the loyal players, tournament Hosts, and everyone else who has chipped in over the years.
