Christmas in Florida

Ahhh.. Christmas in Florida. Three things that let me know that I'm not in New England anymore:

1.) I had to turn off the thermostat so that the air conditioning didn't automatically come on once the inside temperature hits 80 degrees like the outside temperature.

2.) Had to turn on a fan while Gabriel was taking his nap so the neighbors having their pool party wouldn't wake him up.

3.) Had to convince Miriam that she already got enough for Christmas when she wanted to get something from the Ice Cream Truck that was patrolling our neighborhood.

Merry Christmas all! :-)

Merry Christmas! A pool party on Christmas?

My house was a former vacation home in the Disney area. Some of the neighboring houses are still used as vacation rentals. So, yes, some vacationers were very happy to have a pool party on Christmas Day since it was 80 degrees today.  ;D

And to think it's -1 degrees up here. I just ran a 5k (at 3AM......), I'm not sure if -1 and icy is preferable over 80 O_o.

-15 up here yesterday in northern Minn. My Dad was pulling my cousins around in a 2-pony sleigh. We also skated on our home-made ice-rink.

Really?

Indeed. I'm a seasonal worker at EPCOT. I just worked there this morning. I got there at 5:45am and it was still in the high 60's. It topped out near 80 during the afternoon. I'm glad I brought my sunscreen.

FWIW, it should be much colder tomorrow morning when I go in, possibly into the 40's.

Cool! What's EPCOT?

Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

Walt Disney himself had designed his dream of an ideal technologically-advanced town. His design used to be on display as part of the Wedway People Mover ride. However, Walt died before his idea could ever become a reality. The company named one of their theme parks EPCOT as a tribute to Walt, since the idea for a "World Showcase" and "Innoventions" were also Walt's ideas that he had planned for future park expansions.

Wow, learn something every day.  I can't believe I've never wondered what EPCOT stood for before today, and that no one has ever told me.  Thanks for the info :)
