You and a rich person go to the super market, the rich person and you both buy stuff. that is how the draft works. each item represents a player. each person represents a coach.
QuoteYou and a rich person go to the super market, the rich person and you both buy stuff. that is how the draft works. each item represents a player. each person represents a coach. As much I as I don't really watch most baseball, I feel the need to comment. This analogy falls apart because in a draft there is a limited number of players(items) and the rich guy offers the items more money than the poor person can, so the poor person can't buy name brand products and instead have to buy store brand(which normally isn't as good). I am not saying you are wrong, but you should choose a better analogy. You may also consider broadening your argument beyond people hate the Yankee's because they are jealous. My dislike for the Yankee's has nothing to do with their performance. I dislike their ability to outspend most other teams, I prefer the NFL system where everyone (for now) has equal payroll. I dislike the elitist attitude of a majority their fans, which is not the Yankee's fault but what oh well they got stuck with annoying fans. I could go on, but none of these points have anything to do with their performance. Just some food for thought.

One year they decided to spend with the big boys, and so in 1997 they were the 5th highest payroll in baseball. That also happens to be the one year that they won the World Series. Thus you can buy a championship.
The Marlins won the World series for a second time in 2003, defeating the Yankees.
How come your still responding to me Sean.

Somewhat off topic: The Marlins are one of the few teams I dislike as much as the Yankees. The Marlins try to spend as little as possible on their team so they can make lots of money of revenue sharing.
The Yankees have had the highest payroll every year since 98. Also, we're not too concerned with what happened 12 years ago.
He batted .333/.467/.500 in the 1909 World Series as his Pirates beat Ty Cobb's Tigers. The most valuable baseball card in history has his visage on it.
