I've been on a nostalgic streak lately, and I've decided to purchase the Complete Collection. Anyone else raised on or just big fans of the strip?

To this day, I cannot read the series of strips where Calvin is writing a school report on bats, without cracking up.

Calvin and Hobbes are great.  The only book I never owned was the Lazy Sunday book.  I should re-read them again.

It is my favorite comic of all time...nothing else comes close. I think I have around 8 books.  Too bad Bill is a recluse.

Off topic: my 2nd favorite comic is The Far Side.

He did come out of hiding recently. In an awesome way: http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/off-topic/calvin-and-hobbes-creator-returns-to-comics-after-nearly-20-year-absence/msg527390/#msg527390

People laugh when they start looking at my books in my pastor's library and come across the same "Complete Collection of Calvin and Hobbes". Some days I need a good laugh.

Watterson really had a way of exposing some of the deeper questions of life. One of my favorites is when Calvin, in the week leading up to Christmas, debates with Hobbes what exactly it means to be "good". That is a question that will keep college philosophy classes debating for hours.

Great material. Have fun laughing Chris. You made a good investment.  :)

One of my students was very excited to show me his rendering of Calvin and Hobbes in his sketchbook today. He nailed them - however, he refuses to let his mom get it framed because he doesn't want to rip pages out of his sketchbook.

I grew up reading them - so funny!

I had all the books at one point, and faithfully read the newspaper strips.

My favorite is still when Calvin was in the bathtub with his angry look. The mom turns on the water. Calvin yells out, "Mom! The water's too cold!" So the mom adjusts the knobs. Then Calvin yells out, "Mom! Now it's too hot!" So the mom adjusts the knobs again. Finally Calvin says, "Mom! Now it's too deep!"  ;D
