Buying a New Video Card

Hey guys.

Buying a new video card for my comp. It currently has 256 MB built in to the motherboard and I want to get a Nvidia 1 GB. Also want to pay less than $100 for it.

I was looking at a list of some on newegg but i dont know any of these companies. ANy help?

How can I tell if it will work with the motherboard? (if you mean like slot size, the link i had was sorted to the right size)

I build alot of Custom PC's so I have been asked this question a lot.  Look at these two:

I would Recommend the top one as a first choice, but it is a large card, so the second one is also a good choice and it is low profile(takes less space in the machine).  If you like neither one try this one:

It is an ok card but I like the top two better.

While I didn't build my computer (it's a Dell XPS 630i), mine has two 8800GT cards running in SLi. Together they have 1gb of video memory.

Would you happen to know (A) what motherboard you have, or (B) what slots are availible?

I dont know what the motherboard is but it has built in ATI Video Card (256 MB)

I have a PCIe x16 available

Whats the dif of PCIe x16 and PCIe x16 2.0?


The speed at which the card sends and recieves information from the system, looks like your pc has PCIe x16 so my recommendation stands.
