Of course, the descendants of John Hanson would claim that George Washington was the 9th President.

I do quibble with your number, however. I have George Washington as either the 17th or the 19th American President. I'm not sure how you came up with the 18th.

Well, I heard about it from my brother who heard about it from his humanities professor so the exact number could have been lost somewhere in the mix. But good job on getting it.

There were 17(?) presidents of the continental congress before George Washing as America was formed on July 4, 1776 and George Washington was elected president in 1789.

Wikipedia shows 16, meaning Washington would've been 17th.
