What makes that one so expensive is the fact that it is handmade, and a rare one at that.  The bands of gold flecks (called lutz) are a highly desirable and uncommon feature.  Not to mention that the marble is in awesome condition considering that it was made between 1870 and 1910 (in Germany).

There's nothing special about this one's size; it's only 5/8" (16mm) in diameter which is your average marble size.  There do exist handmade marbles that are gigantic (up to around 2 1/2"), but they are almost never in great condition and aren't usually in rare designs.

And there's nothing special about the material either, they're just glass.
Epic pouting maneuver!

My largest non-redemption collection is Star Wars Miniatures.  (I have them all but 8, they put a new set out every 3 months so the last 2 sets I haven't quite finished yet.)

My smaller collections are connected to memories which make them extremely valuable to me.
    Ken Griffey Jr. Collection:
well over 100 different cards of him including ALL of his rookies and 1 minor league card.
Memorbilia is about 20 pieces strong (including a batting practice HR ball, game-worn jersey card, game-used piece of bat) with the centerpiece being an autographed jersey.

    Mini-bats and shot glasses
from all the Major League Baseball parks that I've been too (7 so far).

UNC-Chapel Hill (Carolina) Coke cans or bottle from all of their championships (except for 1957--but I don't think they made one that year.)  Also, I have the newspapers too.

Reds Bobbleheads released during the time that I lived there.

A healthy Zelda Video Game collection

That's all I can think of for now.

Some would say that no video game collection is healthy.

That is quite the collection! The Griffey Jr. stuff is sweet! The Chapel Hill (garbage) is despicable! haha...I happen to adamantly hate everything UNC.

Some would say Christianity isn't healthy. Doesn't make 'em right. ;)

I used to collect a ton of other cards. I did baseball, football, ALL the Star Wars trading card games (including SWCCG, Young Jedi, Jedi Knights, etc), Star Trek CCG, Lord of the Rings CCG, Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, and a few others. I still play Magic sometimes, but never really collected, and I played WoW TCG too, but never collected it much.  I'm also trying out Fight Klub, decipher's new game, and it's pretty fun, but since I don't have the money, collecting is pretty much out of the question right now.

I also collect coins and other types of money, tried stamps, and I guess you could say I collect books and dvds too.  I'm all about hobbies, which is why my website is philsnextkick.com.

Oh, and for you guys who still like Star Trek CCG, I'm selling all my cards. Thought you might like to know...

My buddy collects everything, especially if it's old.  Some things I can think of off the top of my head:

- license plates
- old bottles
- old vehicles
- matchbox cars
- Hot Wheels cars
- coins
- old refrigerators
- old mail order catalogs
- old fishing equipment and tackle
- etc.

Their house is a cross between a museum and mausoleum.

Sorry, no, not a M's fan.  I watched a lot of their games when Griffey was younger, but I tend to favor the Reds after living there for several years.

I'm not an M's fan either, but I was a big fan of Mark Langston. I collected his stuff for a while.

I didn't include sports cards in general since I sold most of them at the right time. I got $125 for my Mark McGuire rookie, $100 for my Rickey Henderson rookie, and I got over $200 for my USFL cards. I only kept a few pages of cards in a binder:

a bunch of Roberto Clemente cards
Willie Mays rookie
Rod Carew rookie
Jim Rice rookie
Carlton Fisk Rookie
Larry Bird rookie
1963 Pete Rose coin

My wife is a hottie.

I played Star Trek CCG (first edition) and loved it. I actually had a pretty sick combo that let me download my entire Romulan deck as soon as my opponent attempted a mission.

I collect guitars, cigars, pipes, books, and random instruments.

No surprise to anyone who knows me, but I collect Dragon Dice. I actually worked for SFR for a while. And as much as I love cards and Redemption, there's nothing like the feel of a bunch of dice in your hand.

Actually, I collect dice of all kinds. CDG dice, RPG dice, unusual dice, dice games, even some casino dice. In case you haven't guessed, I like dice.

(I also have some Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but I'm not a serious collector of those. I just have them to play my kids.)

I used to collect Yugioh cards, but whenever I played I used my friends deck. I recently gave some of my cards to my cousin.
