I just read the story of Balaam in Numbers and did a little research to make sure there was nothing I missed, and now I really can't understand why he is considered evil. Not only is he considered evil for Redemption purposes, but also I remember being told the story of him and his donkey in Sunday school, and he was made out to be evil then as well--or at least, that's what I remember.
However, the only even remotely evil thing it seems Balaam ever did was whack a donkey, and I mean, who hasn't done that at least 3 times? Seriously, Balak hired this guy to curse Israel, but he did exactly what God told him and blessed them instead. I can't see why anyone would consider him evil.
What's the deal?
