Title: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Post by: MichaelHue on June 07, 2010, 12:19:40 PM
Is quite possibly one of the best TV shows ever. It's got a great plot, fantastic characters, awesome humor, and some pretty impressive action and animation for a cartoon. I am so psyched for the movie to come out; I just hope it can live up to the show. My youth group is having an Avatar marathon before the movie comes out, we'll be watching all three seasons.
Who else is an Avatar addict? ;D

I watched the entire show just this past month. I watched half of season 2 and all of season 3 in three days. best animated show ever, in my book.
the movie will either be awesome or fail. I'm not sure which...

Funny that I hated it when I first saw it but It grew on me.
I had a similar experience. However, the process of growing was at its peak right before the show stopped playing on Nickelodeon, so I really don't know much about it at all.

DBZ doesn't compare to Avatar.
Zuko was my favorite. Toph was second...she was awesome.
agreed, RR, Katara was a bit messed up at the end...

I've been watching Avatar a lot lately too. Definitely one of my favorite shows. I intend to be at the first showing of the movie when it comes out, since I've been waiting for it for about two years now. The action and special effects will be good, but I expect the acting will be sub-par since the cast is a bunch of unknown karate kids.

Honestly I hope the movie just isn't too serious. Part of what was so fun about the show was that so much of it was lighthearted and funny. There was so much contrast between the fun/happy parts of the show and the sad/intense/whatever parts that it was much more compelling. I think the movie would lose a lot of that if the whole thing is too serious. @RR

Cartoons have absolutely nothing on Anime, but as far as cartoons go, Avatar is ok. Tim Curry ftw but that's about it, too teenie-bopper.

(Slight Necropost but this is with actual comments!)

Wait what? Tim Curry was/is going to be in Avatar the last airbender? Did I miss something? 'Cuz if he is, I have 10 times MORE reason to love the show/movie.
ADHD: Mark Hamill was the voice for FL Ozai? No wonder the show was so good, look at the voice acting staff!

I agree with MichealHue. I think the show is great but on of the reasons it is so good is because of Aang's goofy sense of humor (and Sokka's of course). If they turn the entire thing into one big hunk of action then it will no longer be Avatar and just a intense remake. Oh, and I know they are not going to stick EXACTLY to book 1 but they better not mess it up that much!
