Welcome to the boards Cactus Susan, our fairest Redemption Queen!

Everyone, please formally welcome Mrs. Susan Anderson, Rob's most cherished, next to God!

And so, here's my attempt to bring back poetry writing which I left probably a good 30 years ago --- lol.

.... so, please pardon my noooob!!!

Our Redemption® Queen

You have finally come home, oh fairest Redemption® queen
It has taken so long, just where have you been?
Poetry it is that sparked your entrance herein
The blessings of your gifts we have gracefully seen!

Worthy is your spouse who has poured out his might
That bore much fruit from a game to behold, such a sight!
You have nurtured him for sure with care all day and night
He has passed on that love to us with his guiding light!

Oh mother of ours please leave us no more
Always take care of us you who Rob and we adore
Share your verses and rhymes, blessings outpour
Pray for us Redemption® gamers, dear Susan we implore!

Roy,

This isn't as simple as Facebook. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. You do me much honor with your poetry. More than I deserve. It's affectionate and Biblically reflective. Mostly, Rob and I are privileged in knowing your friendship. Can I post this in my notes on my Facebook page?

In Grace,
Susan

Time to rez this topic so the new people can try their hand at poetry.

Here's my latest attempt at different forms of poetry.  There is a hidden message that, for some reason, no one have figured it out on their own (looks better on the email.

The Hidden Message

Candles light the darkened vision
Adequate lighting for only a short view
Never ending walls surrounds us now

Walls of black lined with silver writing
Earnestly we trail on down the darkened path

Glaring ahead, hoping to find the end
Onward the path goes, with no end in sight

Exhausted we collapsed onto the darkened path
And our candles tumble close to the walls so black
Rubbing the wrist that broke our short fall
Leaning over to retrieve our fallen candle light
Yet stopping in great shock towards the wall’s silver writing

To our surprise we notice a pattern
Obscured by the dark, now shown with the light
Drawn within the silver writing
A message comes out to be asked from all
Yearningly we answered yes, and the end came to be

A canner, exceedingly canny,
One morning remarked to his granny,
"A canner can can,
anything that he can;
But a canner can't can a can, can he?"

Got this from school.
You can form a sentence by cleverly manipulating words- e.g. last 9 words ;)

Wow I am shocked at the creativity on this thread.  I didn't know so much thought could go into a off-topic thread. :)

Hope you don't mind me rezzing this thread as much as I do but I enjoy poetry and maybe after some more rezzes, the devs will get tired of it and just sticky it ;).

Anyways...

2011 - The Poem

On November twenty-eighth a family was born
With a union so strong it could never be torn
So let this poem here with this year archive
Introduce to you our forever family of five

The father we start with in this introduction
Who the past five years had the same occupation
He has taught a small group the card game Redemption
While through Kings he had led them with great jubilation

A new passion flared inside him that was so commanding
To become a cyclist and in events start riding
With Tour De Fresno behind him he keeps on his training
To one day be in a metric contending

Next is the mother who to us is so dear
Whose love and affection has brought us all near
Through her hospital stay she had no fear
And with her new preschool job we gave a great cheer

With a heart for foster kids a ministry she did start
To bring together siblings who were placed apart
Selling Gold Canyon became a passion in her heart
To raise funds for the ministry and other things take part

And then there’s the oldest who to us is quite thrilling
Between Wii time and sports, he enjoys all the gaming
He went with his father and grandfather fishing
Where he caught his first fish while we all stood by cheering

Though his hard work, a green strip did appear
For he advanced in martial arts with all of his peer
Then his birthday was held with some different footgear
As we put on our skates and moved around the skate sphere

The daughter to us is our little princess
With a smile so cheerful as she gives hugs in excess
A flower girl in a wedding she was with success
As she ran around the place in a beautiful white dress

A castle for our princess held her birthday party
With crowns and candles it was all rather nifty
And with her new name that brings her joys of plenty
She hopes her life from now on will be quite zesty

Last but not least is the youngest of us
Whose laughter and silliness has made us all joyous
Though a fractured leg had made him more cautious
It was not long until he was back causing a ruckus

A party at our house for his sixth birthday
With a bounce house and games there was plenty of play
And with the current school which he will not stay
As he looks forward to the new school with great hooray

To celebrate our family a trip we all went
To Disneyland with grandparents for a four day event
And with the adoption finally placed in cement
A merry Christmas we wish you and your joy be well spent

She

The clock's about to strike nine AM
And she's rushing inside the house
That she lives in once a week
For as little time as she can get away with
Before she returns to all the things she finds
More important
Than her Husband

Scrambling across the immaculate floors,
Hoping she won't get caught
By the Man who weeps over her long absences

Locking herself inside the spotless bathroom,
She showers, scrubbing every inch of dirt
From her sweat-stained skin
Trying to remove the blemishes
Of the week's activities and stresses
But more importantly, she needs to hide
The stench of her addictions--and hypocrisy

Because even though her Husband died
So He could wash away the grit Himself
She doesn't trust Him to keep His promises
Though He's never broken one yet

When she's dry, she dresses in fashionable modesty
Because even though she bares her skin
For the yellowed eyes of every Sin
Heaven forbid she show her Husband an inch
Certainly, she couldn't tell you the last time
That Him and her were truly intimate

Finally, she masks her natural beauty
Behind the products the World demands she wear
For in the World's eyes, beauty is never natural
If it is not a created illusion, it is not beauty
And, just as the clock strikes the nine o'clock hour,
She walks into the spacious living room,
Looking the epitome of perfection,
And she sits across the room,
As far as possible from
Him.

For an hour she sits, silent,
As He pleads with her to stay here at home
And not leave for another week
Because He can't bear living without her
Nor can he bear watching her struggle
Alone through all of life's troubles

But when the time is up,
Without a word, or even an unspoken emotion
She stands, walks to the door, and leaves
Ready to face another grueling week in the World,
Determined to do it all on her own
Even though she knows
She's dying on the inside.

As she walks away,
He stares longingly from the window,
Holding on to threadbare hope
That she'll turn and come running back home.

And when she's finally out of sight,
He covers His face with His nail-scarred hands
And cries.

For anyone interested in reading other poems I've written, I have a poetry blog called Poetry Project 365 that I update daily (hence the 365). Here is the link:

Left Behind

As I sit in a pew
Only surrounded by a few
I hear a sound that resounds in my ears
And in a flash I look around
And I realise that I was the only one
The only one left to live
And only one left to die
And I cry for if I would only through Christ live
But now I am left behind, to die

Just thought of it....

"The poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese."
           -GK Chesterton

I have a passion for cheese,
But it often makes me sneeze.
And when I sneeze, I catch disease,
So alas, I shall eat no more cheese!
ANB is good. Change my mind.
