I'm not aware of a dissonance, or how the fact that mods sometimes miss threads would be ameliorated by this "tinkering".

What most other forums I'm on have a specific forum where spam is "allowed". This doesn't include trolling, but it's the location where forum games and threads full of Lolcats go. These spam forums don't increase post count so people don't seem more active just because they play in the fun stuff. In general the forums I've seen with spam forums see an exceedingly reduced amount of spam in other locations, where the thread pirating and such is not appreciated.

Personally, I'm very sad I missed the buffalo thread, seeing as bison are actually my favorite animal and they're pretty much amazing.

Buffalo are my favorite animal too. I think it would be cool to go out by being gored by a buffalo.

I agree with the "spam" forum concept. However, the forums I am on with that also is extremely hard on spam outside that forum - they even went so far as to make a rule that you must have more to say than just one line to stop "I agree" and "That sounds good" type posts.

I don't want to be gored by one, I just think they're pretty spiffy. :3

I thought the +1 feature had been instated to try and stop those kind of posts anyways. Most of the time simple posts like that are spammy, unless made by an Elder in the ruling questions forums or something like that.

Yeah. I think the mods and admins need to get a lot harder on some of the stuff that goes on in this forum. I would gladly rewrite the rules, but I'm not a mod (and people probably wouldn't like my rules anyway because I'm a hard mod).

Wait, so now the problem is that the mods DON'T shut down cheese and buffalo threads?

I think what they're saying is spam posts is a problem, while spam threads should have their own place.

I question the notion that threads like |> are, in fact, "spam." It's word that's become thrown around a lot, like power creep, until people get mixed up notions of what it is. Is there a difference between spam and pointless fun? I say yes. I would, however, be in favor of a "spam" board.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I would prefer a "fun" board.   :P

-mortified- I still absolutely refuse to eat a bison. For no other reason than I like them too much. ._.;
