I disagree. For instance, I was very disappointed with Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon this past Friday where the clones said "hell" as an expletive twice. I had to talk to my son afterward to make it clear that it was not a nice thing to say. I find it disturbing that the expression "What the h__" has creeped more and more into family programming as acceptable.

It usually surprises people when I tell them I don't own a TV. I haven't had regular access to a TV in about a year, but I still get to watch most (all?) shows I want online (through their networks' websites or occasionally on YouTube if they're not on the air or on DVD). Give me a game of Nexus Ops over that time spent watching TV any day.

I agree with the whole bad words in children programming it's getting worse and other things like "total drama island" at one point a girls top comes off..it's pixeled out but still the thought is there and it's a cartoon! I mean that should go into the same line with family guy...and not to mention how they try to work other suggestive things in cartoons

This is my 4th year living in the hills of Eastern KY, where the only TV signal you can possibly get is satellite. And since we didn't want to pay for that, we haven't had any TV since moving here. I haven't missed it at all.

We still watch movies (which we have total control over what we choose to see). Most of these are VeggieTales for the kids, but we sometimes watch others. I just recently saw Fireproof and loved it. Other than that, about the only thing I have seen lately are some old episodes of Star Trek:TNG that a friend had, and the first 2 seasons of Babylon 5 (on Hulu.com) that I'm almost finished with.

Life is better this way.

P.S. Spy, since you'll be having more free time, perhaps you could join our online tourney when the points reset next week.

I pretty much only use the TV for movies and occasionally videogames. The computer however, I am on WAY more then infront of the TV.

I do still watch tv regularly but I really only have two shows I actually make sure I watch (Heroes and Lost). Most of the time, I'm either watching Fox news, something on Discovery, or Cosby show.

Family guy actually gives you a Parental warning though, Drama island doesn't

I disagree with you here. Computers are even worse at presenting entertainment as important information -- blogs, user-generated videos and information, the web has been used poorly as a form of information distribution, as it is extremely hard to tell if you are getting fact or fable. Nevertheless, computers can be used as tools that peoiple can interact with. Unfortunately, the same fact/fable problem can be said of TV as well. The web does a bad job of filtering because it is used to find things and accomplish tasks, but I understand your position well. I agree with you for the most part here, but there is a difference between TV's and computers that I want to shed light on: A TV throws random material at you; a computer assists you in your tasks and finds things for you that you search for.

True, but that does not negate the importance of this idea, but only compares it to other things. The plan is so simple enough that you should not mind it being championed.

I never watched heroes. However, I enjoyed LOST until they tried to push the envelope of PC garbage. After that happened, I quit.

Yes, but can you really boycott for those things? And was I ever saying that the above issues are not important? NO! But nonetheless, the TV is a simple thing to just stop watching.

I'm sorry, no democrats were able to meet the requirements for the survey. We had an informed vote prequisite, and the democrats who were actually informed were much too busy campaigning for Obama or working to participate. Thank you for providing that unique insight however, JSB.

I really don't think there's any reason to be so harsh towards him for wanting to make a change in his life that he sees as potentially positive. And if it is really that big of a deal, it's probably better handled in PMs.

If we were really organized that way, then why do we watch TV to begin with? After all, by giving up on TV, I can free myself to do better things that use up my time, like Redemption.

Yeah, I don't know where the animosity is really coming from. After all, I am not "ranting" as Sean put it, I am just proposing something positive.

I personally find the harms of TV to be significant enough to boycott.

The issue of TV is a triviality compared such things as sex trafficking, slave trade, genocide, hunger, homelessness, the simple fact that there are people who have not heard the truth of the Gospel, etc...

I'd rather spend my time with the things that are not trivial.
