no love for planet 51?
i thought it was better than vomit.at worst a blanch.
I haven't seen it but come on, you're talking about Up here. Dragon's probably good, but "Up" good? Maybe "Kung Fu Panda" good but "Up" good is a high bar to reach.
the Carl & Ellie life sequence in UP! puts it beyond all competition.
I would place How to Train Your Dragon near or on the same tier as The Incredibles and Iron Giant.

Let's back off the Brad Bird a little bit here with our Dragon praise. You don't mess with The Brad.Have you heard of Bird? Aristotle? Socrates? Morons. The Brad is such a piker that he only hold two spots in my top five animated movies of all time. And two completely different types of films.1. The Little Mermaid Because the first sip of water after crossing the Sahara is the sweetest drink of all.2. UP! You are correct about the Giacchiano's score, but pretty much everything in the film is pitch perfect.3.a. The Iron Giant. He is Superman.3.b. The Incredibles. The title is the best review of the movie.4. How to Train Your Dragon DreamWorks shows they can deliver something on par with the best of Disney/Pixar.

Last year you hadUP!The Princess and the FrogMonsters vs Aliens,Ice Age 3CoralineCloudy with a Chance of MeatballsThe Fantastic Mr. Fox.9In the entire period I was growing up I had what today would be considered direct to DVD fodder (The Rescuers), and two moderately ok films: The Fox and the Hound, and The Black Cauldron.
For me the thing that stands out the most is that in a technical sense the two Bird films are the best films in their respective genres.
The Black Cauldron is legit. Fox and the Hound is also a classic.
out of all of those, I only watched Up!, but I'll probably get around to seeing Monsters vs Aliens, Cloudy with a Chance, and possibly Princess and the Frog.

Ugh Enchanted was horrible! Worst Disney movie of all time. Now this is not a guy rant against musicals... this is a "I miss the old days of Lion King and Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast" rant. The face of Disney went from Mufassa to Miley Cyrus in 10 years. And that's not okay with me.
