2 or 3 liner?

Is it more common to use the 2-liner or 3-liner in both type 1 2-player and multi-player?

I always use the 3-Liner. I'm pretty sure everyone uses the 3-Liner in Multi. So far I haven't encountered a situation in T1 in which it really matters, though.

P.S. I think this belongs in Card Play.

I have encountered more 3-liners than 2-liners in type 1 2-player.

In 2p the 2 liner is better. I don't use either in multi.

EDIT: After thinking about it, the 3 liner may be better in some situations. I still plan to stick to the 2 liner though.

We use whatever we have here, but I think the three liner's better overall.

Oh yeah, it probably does but I wasn't really thinking about that when I posted it. Oops!

In 2-player, 3-liner only limits your options. There is literally no reason to use it over 2-liner.

In Multi, 3-liner is better.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I am going to have to disagree with that. I have once played against someone who blocked me by SOG/NJ one of his two lost souls and half of his own three liner to block me for what would have been my final rescue attempt. He ended up not drawing another lost soul and beat me 5-4.

Outside of very weird and rare circumstances, there is no reason to play 3-liner.

Which means there are literally reasons to play 3-liner.

One very weird and rare circumstance can be the difference between winning and losing a tournament if the two players are evenly matched.

Using the 2 liner is still better; there are more and more common circumstances that it will win you the game.

I haven't had an experience where the two liner would be better but I am sure there are some. I personally prefer to stick with my three liner just in case

The two liner can be an advantage in two player; if your opponent rescues half, you can SoG/NJ it so you both get half and you get another one. It can also be good in multi if one person has four and has half, someone else can rescue it to keep them from getting the other half.

That being said, I used the three liner and not the two at nats. Why? Mostly because I only had the three. ;)

just pointing out that in multi if someone has 4 redeemed souls and half a 2-liner and someone else rescues the other half both players get half of the 2-liner so the person with 4 would then have 5.

Sorry, I meant 4 souls including the half. This example is assuming the 2 liner is the only soul in your territory.

I prefer 2-liner in two player and 3-liner in multi. I believe that being able to rescue your own ls in two player is more advantageous more often than being able to waste sog/nj on one half to stop your opponent.

I really don't see how taking half of your own 3 liner could be all that beneficial. You basically just wasted NJ because you can never rescue the other half of that soul, unless you opponent is stupid enough to exchange for it. Sure it may stop him once but so does tapping the three liner in the first place. 2 liner is better then 3 liner in 2P because you can SOG/NJ the other half of the soul you still get one and stop him from getting the other half. In multi it can go both ways. If there's someone with 4 souls going right after someone with 1 or 2 then the obvious thing to do is tap the 3 liner, but if the 3 liner is the only soul you have and the opponent has 3 tapping it just means you can't give the other half of the soul to someone else, it's basically guaranteeing that soul will be there the next time that opponent needs to make a rescue and if you couldn't block them the first time it's unlikely you'll be able to block them the second time.
