Voting Dilemma

1. I prefer Nebox but with the fact that an elder made it clear it's not going to be alllowed have an animal identifier I feel discouraged about it.
2. Rapha is cool I'm just not convinced he should be a total boss when we don't really know who he was outside of possibly being the Father of Goliath and bro's.
3. King Artaxeres seems like a great call to boost a Persian themed defense but, here we go again with brown.
4. Emperor Nero I just don't personally feel like I can get behind, we have a relatively decent Nero already, immunity isn't a blow by ability IMO.
5. Leviathan needs a reprint with a Job reference and cool ability but I feel like this is going to happen at some point anyways.

I am truly conflicted on who to vote for in this next round.

I'm with you on the first few points but disagree that current Nero is fine. Conditional immunity without even being CBP almost might as well not exist. I can't think of any reason to include him in a T1 deck and, while I don't play T2 at all, I would be shocked to see him included in a T2 deck as well.

As for Leviathan, Paul was also going to get a reprint on his own but that didn't stop us.

Just so everyone is aware, Josiah contacted me about posting this before he did so (in light of the request I made for people not to "campaign" this time around).

I want to thank him for showing that respect for the contest.  8)

As Gabe mentioned on the voting thread, we really want people to vote for the character they most want to see, not the character they think might have the best chance of winning. Of the five finalists, it would not surprise me at all if all 5 are printed/reprinted at some point (perhaps even as early as the upcoming set...who knows... ::) ), and I could say the same about many of the other nominations that did not make it to the final round.

Yeah 4 and 5 are a little boring for a player created card. Rapha is extra-biblical, which was technically against the rules. It's like wondering who that great Lakota guy was, you know, the father of the whole Lakota nation.

2. Names must be Biblical (I know we have extra-Biblical characters in the game, but this card will need to have a direct Scripture reference)

Nebox could still be cool, because a character doesn't have to be an animal to boost an animal theme, though imo these lines could have been blurred for thematic reasons. I think I am actually leaning Nero as of right now. He's definitely pure evil and it's time his ability reflects that!

I'm sorry if I wasn't 100% clear on what constitutes "extra-Biblical," but my decision was that "Rapha" has enough Biblical references to be included. If you want to debate that point, we could do that elsewhere  ;)

I know the card type was decided as EC but is it possible for the special ability section to include an ability that changes the card to a different type? A few card idea threads for Leviathan in the past have made him a part time fortress, is something like this possible or beyond the scope of a community card?

Dual Alignment option, please. I'd like to renew my (lifelong?) quest to see Jehu be given a Hero card. Thanks!

Because there are so many dual type/alignment combinations, I decided against listing them all. However, if during the design process we discover that the card we want to make would work really well as a DA card (such as a Hero/EC Jehu) then that is something that can be discussed later in the process.  :)

I’m glad this has come up again as I did some research and from what I’m seeing it is not clear at all that Rapha was an actual person but the references seem to be more of a people group, and as a result may be too messy to consider Rapha a character. But as Guardian said, this can be discussed elsewhere in more depth as it was in a previous thread.  Just wanted to piggyback off of Guardian’s post.

You should have joined me and 7 or 8ish others in getting "Maggots" to go through.  I'm a bit suspicious (not in a bad way...just in an observational guess way) that people followed your leadership on Nebby, and they liked the cool nickname that was added.

Your card seemed more like an enhancement to me and not a character.

I want Nero remade to see him reprinted as warrior class. Not being able to hold chariots or every's man sword is a bummer. His current ability discards Fortress of Antonia and roman prison which are both so useful in a roman/emperors defenses. Plus, I agree with Kevinthedude. His protection ability is kinda lame without it being cbp/i/n.

That's the opposite dilemma.  Here, you want to vote because you are looking forward to the winner   :P

If extra Biblical names don't count, how did Nero make it in? He's not mentioned in the Bible.

Good catch. His current print even has a Josephus reference.

I was aware of that, and I allowed him because he is already a card printed in the game.

I feel like that's pretty much all you need to know. Better cards have been made out of knowing less (Thaddeus, Ahimelek the Hittite, etc).

  • Nebox I think has too much going on for just one card.

  • The other two will probably get printed anyway regardless.

Not campaigning, just stating an opinion. Riding the line. 8)
