Trumpeting Priest (teal)
7/7
Joshua 6:16
Generic, Territory class
May hold The Silver Trumpets or Ram's Horn
Protect good Priests from withdraw and return abilities. When a good Priest enters battle, holder may play an Enhancement with "Trumpet" in the title.
-
I like it!
-
Ooh! That's nice! You could instantly play trumpet blast! That's pretty nice!
-
sweet
-
Yes, as well as trumpet and sword, and even the seven trumpet judgments from revelation if you use coat of many colors, love, etc.
I'm especially thinking of this as a way to boost priests in type 2
-
altough, it might be better if it was a OT High priest instead of just priest. just to limit it a little bit. wont effect much, but it will make sure it isnt too powerful.
-
the priest that used trumpets were not high priests though
-
This card is quite powerful, because of the easy way to play Trumpet and Sword preblock CBI/CBN. I know you can already play TaS preblock with Hidden Treasures and a Green/Teal Priest, but the Priests that make TaS CBI/CBN (Amariah and Joshua) are not Green. And you can't activate Ram's Horn and Hidden Treasures at the same time.
Trumpet Blast is irrelevant, unless you only want to use it for the site or Fortress discard. Trumpet and Sword has too much destructive power to make it easy to play preblock and CBI/CBN.
-
And you can't activate Ram's Horn and Hidden Treasures at the same time.
Actually, you could have both Hidden Treasures and Ram's Horn active because Trumpeting Priest would be able to hold Ram's horn.
What if you added a sentence that said something along the lines of "While an enhancement with "Trumpet" in the title is in battle, if a character would be discarded, ignore it instead" instead of the protection from withdraw and return abilities?
That way Trumpet and Sword isn't as destructive but it can still be useful preblock. It also adds a bit of indirect protection from discard.
Another option is instead of having Trumpeting Priest let you play it preblock you could give it a delayed activation like Throne of David.
-
Good points! I like the delayed activation idea but then Trumpet Blast becomes a big factor to consider...
Also to consider- the "X" for the discard on Trumpet and Sword is the number of your O.T. Warrior class heroes, making it so you need to have a split brigade offense with at least a splash of teal. To get it set up would take some doing, especially as Ram's horn is not a temple, tabernacle, or priestly artifact so it can't be easily searched out. Maybe Trumpeting Priest could be red and teal like trumpet and sword is, which would tone it down some by limiting the number of copies in type 2 you could have and thereby making it statistically more difficult to set up.
-
Another thing you have to remember about Trumpet and Sword is because it is red you can easily recur it with A Soldier's Prayer. That means you could play it up to 6 times in Type-2.
What if you made Trumpeting Priest's play ability only twice per game? Or you could have to discard an artifact held by Trumpeting Priest to trigger the play ability.
-
The Trumpeting Priests weren't the ones sitting back at camp so thematically I don't think it makes sense for them to be territory class.
What about:
The Trumpeting Priests
Teal
7/7
Joshua 6:16
Unique, Tabernacle Priest
May hold The Silver Trumpets or Ram's Horn
Search deck for Ram's Horn or a card with Trumpet(s) in the title. May use any good enhancement with "Trumpet(s)" in the title. Cannot be interrupted.
In addition to the Trumpets from Revelation, this would also let them play Trumpets and Torches and Sound the Trumpet.
-
All good ideas! There are definitely ways to make it not OP like TP3 was suggesting. Also yes it would be awesome to use the other trumpet cards and all the combos that would be made possible! Although if it wasn't the territory class version supporting good priests in battle, the 7/7 would make it hard to get initiative outside of Jordan Interrupted in order to get off a trumpet-titled enhancement.
As far as generic or unique, I guess it depends if teal needs more boost for T1 or T2.
-
Jordan Interrupted would be a great add thematically anyway, so I don't see a problem with them being a bit bigger. You would also likely be running Zeal since it's a Tabernacle Priests deck with Phinehas. The ability to search out a battle winner (and being CBI) is pretty strong which is why I made them unique.
While Tabernacle Priests probably aren't good enough on their own for a T2 offense, they can definitely be paired with Judges, Red Warriors or even other Priest groups (Z-Temple or Solomon's Temple) for a very strong deck. Eleazar son of Aaron gave them a huge boost.
-
Great points - yes I like how this is shaping up!
-
Actually, you could have both Hidden Treasures and Ram's Horn active because Trumpeting Priest would be able to hold Ram's horn.
What I meant to say is, it is impossible to have them both active at the same time with the cards in the current Redemption card pool. I guess there aren't many warrior class Green prophets, and David (Kings) can already play a CBN Unified Kingdom preblock...
