Title: The Witness
Post by: Lamborghini_diablo on October 25, 2009, 04:22:17 PM
My latest idea:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FTheWitness.jpg&hash=a85081fa8e69790a9b672cb92ca8641ea45e55e1)

Basicly, by bringing another Evil Character to the light, they can witness to someone else. The "harder" the EC was to convert, the more of an impact it'll have on people watching from the sidelines (aka, the ecs in territory)

I made it only convert your own EC's to give it some balance, so you cant just destroy the opponents defense AND get points.

Thoughts?

Overpowered, the ability to rescue two souls in one turn is crazy good. I think it would be fine to convert an opponents EC in territory, if you convert one in battle, but getting a soul is way op.

How would you rescue two souls? It specifically states you cannot rescue any more for the rest of the turn.

Ahh I see where this guy could be way useful.

Exactly. BUT, read the last part of the ability. It says that you CANNOT redeem any more souls.

So, you redeem an EC, and then you cant redeem anymore, so its only one point gained.

When he wins a battle, I believe, but don't quote me on this, you get the lost soul. THEN, after that, his ability to redeem an ec in territory would take effect.

But I'm not gonna nitpick, I see what you're doing and it's a way cool idea. Nicely done!

I agree the wording may still need tweaking, but you all get the basic idea.  :P

Why would you use it? Instead of rescuing a soul, you're out an Evil Character.

If you convert an during ANY battle, you can redeem a EC in your territory as a Redeemed soul. That's pwnage. Think about it.

1) Sitelock
2) Lost Soul shuffling/protection
3) Your opponent has no souls out.

Basicly, any time you CANT get a soul, you can redeem an EC instead.

Only if they're stupid enough to block you and let you convert them.

I just don't see it getting played.

CTB in T2 FTW.

What CTB? I agree with Pol that this would likely be a pretty useless card. If you gave it an ability to force your opponent to block a BC, then it might be of some use, or even OP.

Splash some Green and use Provisons x5 and x5 of The Witness.

CTB = Choose The Blocker (e.g. Ehud, provisions)

I would add this card into my Luke/John deck :)

Another thought I had for this character was where he could redeem an EC he converts in battle, but mabye put a limit of once per game on it, and that would be the only soul he rescued that turn.

he knows what CTB means, but there's no CTB in gold.

I prolly wouldn't play this. but I might test it out. it's a fun card.

Two different suggestions:

1) Add "instead of a lost soul" after mentioning redeeming your EC to lessen the confusion.

2) Instead of saving your EC, change it to converting your EC to a brigade of your choice.

The second option defeats the original perspose of the card though the first suggestion is good. Imo some phrase like "when this character makes a battle challenge your opponent must accept" or something of the sort should be added.

Ehud.
so you'd have to splash in some silver for a Gathering.
