The Horsemen of the Apocolypse

I had the idea of these guys yesterday. Bascially they get insanely powerful by having their weapons. and they constantly work together. Im welcome to opinions!

Spoiler: The First Horseman (hover to show)

NOTE: I'm trying to correct the wording on this card. The Negate ability should only trigger by his Discard effect, and nothing else. Also forgot to mention "a" territory.

Spoiler: Crown of Conquest (hover to show)

Spoiler: The Second Horseman (hover to show)

Spoiler: Great Sword of War (hover to show)

Spoiler: The Third Horseman (hover to show)

Spoiler: Scales of Famine (hover to show)

Spoiler: Death (hover to show)

Spoiler: Hades (hover to show)

Spoiler: Scythe of Death (hover to show)

They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

Scythe of Death

"Negate instead abilities."
"If a character is discarded: Remove it from the game." <--instead ability  ;)
Fortress Alstad
Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

That's not necessarily true. I don't see any reason why this couldn't banish the discarded character from the discard pile without insteading the discard (and that's the way it seems written to me).

More synergy between the horsemen would be nice and most of the abilities don't match the description of the horseman very well.

...what do you mean? Are you thinking of how they are described in media? Because it just says the first is a conquerer, the second is a war-bringer, the third brings famine, and the last ones are Death & Hades. The only one that has much mentioned about it (besides Death elsewhere) is the Third where it says food prices will spike

What Browa said is how I was intending it to work.

Also, is Hades worded right that he can only trigger his effect once while he's in play?

I would say no because the word "once" by itself doesn't mean a whole lot. I would move that ability to the end and change it to "Once per game, you may decrease a player's maximum hand size by 1."

You seem to like using colons in your abilities, except that the only Redemption use of a colon is after a place ability and it specifically means "while placed."

Eh, that comes from Yugioh. (Cost and effect is seperated by semi-colon and condition is separated from cost by a colon.)

Although I want Hades to be able to reuse the effect if he leaves the field and comes back into play.

You could probably just say this instead: "Once while in play,"

I mean the first horse conquers, and all it can do is discard a character. The second horse take peace from the earth and makes people fight each other and doesn't cause side battles lol. The Third one is ok i guess because it "balances" out some of the power cards but it would be cool if the ability was more directly related like the "balance" card. Death only discard 1 human lol and Hades, I think you could give a territory class ability of some kind to him as a representation of the eternal nature of hell. Like.. "All heroes discarded ar banished instead". I guess in summary lets make these more powerful and epic, i'd like to see the weapon restriction go so these are more splashable and useful. Over all I like the concepts and art.

You should look at the Weapons too then. The Crown steals a EC banded into Battle to pitch a Fortress, the Sword keeps CBN cards from being played if your Opponent has no Heroes in territory, The Scales make all Enhancements used on Humans be negative, and Death's Scythe can pitch another Human to pitch anything in territory. Basically I've been using the weapons to give the rest of the effects that I wasn't able to fit on the Characters (or would be too strong to put on the characters).

Although for Scythe, I may make the once per game effect a "Interrupt the Battle, Discard all Opponent's cards in Battle to Discard a card in territory." That and I'll have to look at where I can add a Side-battle to the Second Horseman or his Sword.

Also, the Weapon restriction comes from the point that besides Scythe are given to the Horsemen. Although I may do something with Second Horseman to start a side-battle. (That and I do feel that the Negate all on him still works too)
For Death discarding only 1 Human, that has to do with that he's discarding a human in battle, and I don't want it to be too crazy OP.

Your horseman look very different than the ones I'm familiar with.  ::)

lol, you meaning their effects?

the weapons are fine, just don't think people would play 2 cards in a deck that have to be drawn together for average abilities.

Updated Hades and Scythe of Death

the weapons are fine, just don't think people would play 2 cards in a deck that have to be drawn together for average abilities.

I will note 1 thing: The Horsemen are meant to be a defense to themselves rather then just a splash able defense. (Basically Im building this idea that you skip your Draw to Search out the Good cards, which search the Evil cards and so on and so on)

Im open to possibly trying to make them able to be a little more splashable... but my main focus is to make them work as their own defense.
