Should the Bronzino take first, is it safe to assume that it will be cropped as Gabe's card sample showed?

Asking because the full painting kinda pushes right up to (if not over) the edge.

imo No. If everybody was to move from the lowest 3 (3, 4 and 3 votes) to either the Mola or Pinelli piece it would overtake the Bronzino piece. Not to mention that there are currently 27 votes for a piece other than the bronzino piece. I think a vote with the Mola, Bronzino and Pinelli piece would be best at this point.

I think you misread his question--he was just asking if Bronzino was ultimately picked, would it be cropped the same as Gabe's sample. My guess is yes.

Thanks. That was my question.

The cropped image is fine, but the full art of the Bronzino is lewd (or pushing right to the edge of lewdness).

I'd really like to see an artwork, which seamlessly fits into the existing artwork of the starter deck Phillis! Really! This would be awsome!

The Bronzino is a depiction of the god Neptune (full image shows trident to his right) and is lewd, even as it is currently cropped. Not really comfortable with it at all. We are going to create a new promo that has as much nudity as the original Bathsheba card with I have to essentially hide from more conservative families.

Does Cactus have more art from "Jamison Services Inc" of the Kings/I and J starter deck Philistines?

Oh ok. Do we know how much it would cost to buy the rights for the awesome piece that Gabe originally found?

He's not any different than the new Samson. I'm not sure why everyone wants Pinelli's picture it doesn't remind me of a Philistine giant at all. Don't get me wrong it's a great picture it just doesn't look like a Philistine giant to me.

To me the lack of color makes it the least desired one of all. I look back on some of the old cards that were black and white drawings and i just think "man those look boring" I on't care how amazing the art is, if it's black and white, it gets a thumbs down.

How conservative are we talking here? Classical art, appropriately cropped, seems wholesome and appropriate for Redemption. Is the famous painting of the Creation of Adam lewd in your opinion?

Redemption has used many, many pieces of art that if not cropped are completely inappropriate for our audience. Because of our limitation of needing free art we gravitate towards classic pieces. As best I can tell at other times nudity was very common and depicted in stories that I find surprising. We choose to use and crop these pieces in a way that is acceptable to our culture.

I’ve put the art on the mock ups as I would use it on the final version. I’m rather surprised that Travis has a problem with the Bronzino piece as it’s currently cropped. It doesn’t seem any different than Elhanan or Samson. I haven’t heard complaints about those. I guess I could crop it a little more if people feel like that would help.

It is a combination of the full art and therefore larger and easier to distinguish nuanced curves of the body, the fact that it is a promo, and in the two specific examples you gave, Elhanan was quite cartoony and Samson was depicted in a way that shows his physique as it plays to his story. The current art does not lend anything of a hint at who this guy is at all. It is a naked old guy for the sake of a naked old guy. Reminds me more of the old guys in the YMCA locker room than a Philistine giant.

I think, now that I look back at it, the other thing is that the entire card will be filled with this guys body while other cards mentioned at least had some kind of background and border to not make the entire cards focus on a guys body. A couple side notes: I would love to look like that when i am older. The guy has an epic beard. There are redeeming qualities about the artwork as it is beautiful and classical. Just not something I want to see on a full art promo card.

It's interesting to me that the people who have a problem with the Bronzino piece because of "nudity" have no complaints about the Pinelli piece which shows just as much "nudity". The Greek looking guy in the Pinelli piece appears to be sitting there naked with a blanket over his lap.

Personally I think both pieces are fine. I don't see a problem with either one representing Rapha.

Reminds me more of the old guys in the YMCA locker room than a Philistine giant.

Apparently I don't spend enough time hanging out in the YMCA locker room looking at old men.  ::) ;D

The difference for me is that the full art Brozino appears to show a bit of "junk" (in the venacular that the kids use today).  The Pinelli does not.

As mentioned above, I have no issue with the cropped Brozino for a card.

In the full art version it shows the cloth he has on that dips off the picture to the right. But at first I saw what you were saying about being a little low.

I changed my vote from Fugel to Pinelli. I don't see the appeal in all the ones that doesn't stand in the vein of the older giants, but I want anything but the Bronzino piece, so I changed to the second most voted piece.

I don't mind the Mola piece, I just wish he was holding a sword or a spear rather than a bow...doesn't really strike me as "Philistine."

It does support the territory class nature of the card though ;)

Don't see a problem associating archers with Philistines since that is how they killed King Saul. See below:

1 Samuel 31:1-3
1Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa. 2The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua. 3The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.

***UPDATE***

It appears we have a three horse race.

In about 90 minutes I will remove all options except the top 3 (barring any crazy vote changes). However, because there has been a lot more recent discussion and thoughts shared, I will keep the change vote option "on" for another 24 hours so people have an opportunity to review all the discussions.

After that point, I will turn the change vote option "off" and all votes cast for the current top 3 will remain. People who had not voted (or who had voted for one of the eliminated options) will be able to vote for one of the remaining three.
