What are some characters that should be Taunt characters? Me and my bros thought of The Rabshekah and the Jeering Youths should both be remade because JY jeered at Elisha and Rabshekah taunted the Israelites. Who else?

Elijah should definitely have a taunt ability. Allowable via gameplay? No, but I mean, come on, other than Goliath, he's the #1 taunter in the Bible.

Maybe he could have the special ability: "If no lost souls are in opponent's land of Bondage this turn, you may choose an opposing evil character to block. The loser is placed beneath deck.

I like that idea!

He certainly didn't place the loser beneath deck when he won his taunt in the Bible!

The Jeering Youths has been printed too recently with a good SA, but a Rabshakeh reprint with taunt would be good. Job's Wife is pretty taunty, and while she has a good SA, it's from Women-era so a reprint with a changed SA would be appropriate, like Gabriel. Pharaoh taunted Moses and Aaron, and he's never even had an SA (the 9/10 Pharaoh is a different person than the dreaming Pharaoh). There could be generic taunting pharisee and Sadducee groups. That's just off the top of my head, there are probably a lot more to be found.

What would the taunts do? I know you have ones that remove a hero from the game, or discard a card from opponent's deck, but what else?

Just some ideas,

Rabshakeh: Take opponent's Site or Fortress
Job's Wife: Look at opponent's hand and deck and Discard a Good Dominant
The Stubborn Pharaoh: Capture opponent's Hero regardless of Protection
Taunting Pharisee: Draw three cards
Taunting Sadducee: Protect your territory from Dominants for three rounds
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

They just look that way because Goliath's stinks.

Um...I'd say that discarding a Good Dominant off a taunt is a bit OP myself, not to mention the others :D

I do like the idea of more taunting characters, though, but I don't see them getting much use TBH.

Think about it. Take a Fortress? Draw three (aren't we trying to slow down speed)? Kill a Dom even after cap? protect all cards in territory from Doms?

And only doable if you don't get a RA. Anything that comes at the expense of rescuing a soul is pretty big.

Definition of Taunt:
Taunt (added)
Taunt is a character attribute printed on the card. Taunt is a battle challenge performed by an Evil Character. A taunt targets an opponent’s Hero. You can only taunt when your opponent has no lost souls to rescue. The taunt it is your only battle for the turn. The opponent can accept or decline the taunt. If the taunt is declined, the Hero loses the battle and gains the special ability specified with the taunt attribute  (e.g., “place opponent’s Hero beneath deck”).

It seems that Taunt only targets the hero the Taunt itself targets with something to happen.  I don't think they intended all these other abilities to be possible.

Seriously, who actually KNOWS the rules for Taunt? :P

It took me 5 minutes just to find the rules (not on the REG that I could see, by the way).  And yep, different from how I 'knew' it to be too :)

It would also appear from that that if Goliath were to win a taunt, it wouldn't even do anything until the next time the Hero entered battle.

Where did you find this? It doesn't match up with what we decided or what was printed on the Disciples packs, which as far as I know, is the only place that Taunt is explained. Here's what the Disciples pack says:

Rule for the Taunt Identifier:

Taunt: If no opponent has a lost soul in his territory, you may make a "Taunt battle challenge" with an evil character that has a Taunt identifier. A Taunt battle challenge is begun by placing the evil character into battle and declaring an opponent. The opponent may accept the Taunt battle challenge by placing a Hero into battle to fight the evil character. If the evil character wins the Taunt battle challenge, activate the special ability in the parentheses after the Taunt identifier. (If you decline any kind of battle challenge, you lose the battle challenge).

Go find it again?! ._____. Fine, just a minute...

*returns 5 minutes later*

FOUND IT! :D

It came from the REG Updates thread, and was posted 11/26/11.  Linky

I think that this points out the need for the REG to be updated and all these erroneous definitions (if this one is) to be purged ;)

Thank you for that! :) The correct definition of Taunt is the one written on the Disciples pack inserts. Obviously that needs to be added to the REG still.

The irony of that post is that I find no REG entry for Taunt. The Goliath promo doesn't even have it listed in his identifier. :P

BTW, folks, I love your taunt ideas. I think you can add Shimei to your list of characters that will receive a Taunt ability when/if they are reprinted.

I would think that Locusts of the Pit would have a Taunt-like Ability because of how Revelation mentions them.
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

I feel like this discussion is pointless simply because I have yet to see Goliath even attempt a taunt ability.

Because the payoff for the taunt is so crappy and the designers went so far out of their way to make him useless as a first attacker.
