Title: Syrian Pantheon
Post by: Deck Metrics on September 01, 2010, 01:34:22 PM
Artifact

Interrupt and negate all special abilities on warrior class heros, unless a green O.T. Prophet is in play. If a Damascus site is in play, this ability cannot be prevented by a green O.T. Prophet. If an Assyrian wins a battle, discard this card.

Identifier - Idol, may be placed in House of Rimmon

2 Kings 5:18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

Zec 12:11 makes reference to a temple in Hadad-Rimmon which is the combination of two Syrian words meaning "Hadad the Thunderer" a Syrian deity, aka an idol.

Isaiah 7:8, 17:3 notes Damascus as the capital of Syria,

2 Kings 16:9 notes Assyrians defeating the Syrians at Damascus.

I think the ability is alright, anybody have some good ideas besides this design in context of the card depicting an idol?

The Idols in Rimmon

Artifact

If a Syrian is in your territory, negate all special abilities on opponent's heroes, unless a green O.T. Prophet is in play. If you have a Damascus site in play, your capture abilties activate regardless of protection. Cannot be negated during battle.

Syrian Pantheon implys all the gods of Syria, and you only mentioned one so something along the lines of Idols of Rimmon is a more fitting title.

Changed the ability somewhat to make it more useful, Syrians need alot of help and your version was really underpowered.

I think this has alot of potential, good find  :).

I like the updated version, although the Capture bit is worded oddly. I'd write it: "If Damascus is in play, Negate Protection from Capture on opponents' cards." It's subtly different, but less awkward and shorter.

Agreed, I did think my version was a little weak, experienced
a little writers block after studying so much.
