There has been a major development in the community card process!
Before this process began a few weeks ago, our T2 2P National Champion Josiah Beers had submitted his card for the player created card prize. Despite some early challenges in making the abilities fit (Josiah had a lot of great ideas but there were too many...
), we eventually worked with him to get his card in a really great place.
Then the community card process began and after a slow start, one particular character began to emerge as a front runner--a character that many in the community wanted to see given an upgrade...a character that Josiah took upon himself to give to the Redemption community...LEVIATHAN.
When Leviathan emerged as a very strong candidate for the community card, we discussed with Josiah what he would like to do. Being that this is only the third year for player cards and the second year for the community card, we had no precedent for when those two things overlapped. We decided to wait it out a little bit to see where votes fell, but in the end it would be Josiah's decision if he wanted to keep his submission or work on something else. At first we thought we would wait until the contest was over--if Leviathan won but Josiah wanted to keep Leviathan, we would use the second place card. However, Josiah did not want to give the appearance that he was the one deciding which card got made--he wanted that to be a community decision (and I applaud him for that). On the other hand, he and the team put a lot of work into making a really great version of Leviathan that has already proven really good in early testing.
And so, I would like to officially announce that Leviathan is being removed from the list of community card finalists, and I will be starting a new vote with the other four finalists. They are all very close right now so it should be very interesting to see where the "Leviathan votes" end up going.
I personally think this is great news as the community will not only be getting an awesome new version of Leviathan thanks to Josiah, but also another awesome card from among the four remaining finalists!
I will be posting a new voting thread momentarily!
