Selah

Another card with my other daughter's name, Selah (pronounced Seh-la (Hebrew pronunciation), or Say-la; not See-la) is a musical term that's used throughout the psalms and has been interpreted to mean pause, reflect, meditate, and/or to lift up.  Ergo, I created this card to reflect that.  The picture is one of a storm that just passed over the sea and is now over, and the sun is beginning to shine again and the waves are subsiding.  I felt this was best in line with the whole pausing the battle theme.

The ITB ability is in line with pausing, as well as the end the battle ability, which is rarely (if ever) seen on good enhancements.  The withdraw and protect ability is based upon the scripture reference I chose.  By adding a new white hero to battle, the battle is no longer paused but continued.

The banish ability was included so as to prevent Chenaniah/Ethan abuse (unless the withdraw/protect/add to battle ability is negated, and the card makes it way to your discard pile.  Thankfully, the ETB ability is CBI so no worries about recursion).

I was debating between 4/3 or 3/2 abilities but settled on 4/3 since many white heroes have low numbers.

The one thing that I was having the trouble with was this wording: "If your opponent is now losing the battle, end the battle..."  The reason being is if the battle is interrupted, nobody is losing, technically.  So to say "if your opponent is losing the battle" it wouldn't really be accurate since my opponent isn't losing by the numbers YET, until the interrupt ends (that's my understanding, at least).  That's why I worded it with the "now" in it.  I originally worded it as "If this card would cause your opponent to be losing the battle, end the battle."  I didn't care for how that sounded, that's why I went with the other way.  So any help with this wording would be appreciated.

Another version of the ability I thought of was this:

"Interrupt the battle. If your opponent is now losing the battle, end the battle and banish this card; otherwise, withdraw all Heroes and protect those Heroes from harm until the end of turn. You may add a new white Hero you control to battle, then banish this card."

Feedback is appreciated!

End the battle is too strong on an offensive card. Even without an interrupt attached I would be very wary of putting that mechanic on a good card. Ending the battle is stronger than other battle winners because it immediately goes to battle resolution and thus a redeemed soul. This card effectively says "Rescue a Lost Soul. Cannot be interrupted."

Plus, in Type 2, having four of those with David, the Psalmist and Hidden Treasures (or David's Harp :P) would be pretty ridiculous.

Good points. There are a few ways to mitigate the strength of the card: CM, FA, lower the numbers on the card to make it harder to get the ETB benefit, the ability can be prevented, etc. perhaps also take out the ITB portion. But overall it's not healthy.

However, I did not think about David and hidden treasures. That would be bad! I'll change it up.

Thanks for the feedback gents.

Musicians have some huge numbers that they can band (Chenaniah banding to 24 elders comes to mind), at which point many battles can end with interrupt end the battle.

If I protect my good cards from banishment, then I could do this multiple times. Maybe make it "Banish this to" instead so that if you can't banish, you can't do the effect.

Here's a revamped version.  I wanted an enh involving music to be able to be used on CoW Moses as there are only one or two that can be used on him.  I considered making it CBI if used by a hero involving music instead but felt that might be a bit too strong.  And Moses wouldn't be able to use it (unless he's banded into battle).

I assume you didn't intend for this to be able to exchange to your own territory. Should be "with one in opponent's territory".

I did actually. I tried changing it to opponent's territory and the ability ran into the scripture. But it can be nasty if you use your own EC to exchange and probably too powerful.

I would argue that is should be purple white because David and Solomon both wrote psalms.

Just going to be honest, I very much doubt there is ever going to be a good end the battle enhancement that could result in the Heroes potentially rescuing a Lost Soul as the result of the battle.

Any good EtB cards are probably going to be similar to Battle Neutralized in that they end the battle in a stalemate.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?
