This is so OP. Its a free LS for you and also one less LS for your opponents SoG and NJ to recque! I would make it a little more conditional and harder to use. Something like "if your hero was discarded this turn"

Well...considering it is not currently possible to have both active (though isn't there some obscure card that can hold one of these?), and you'd have to have both active and not be negated, I'm not sure it is as OP.

I get it, You have to use the character in a block as well, but still...

I'm not really a fan here, opening the game to alternate rescues can get really fuzzy really fast.

points for originality though.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

to have both artifacts active is very hard, this would require some searching, which would be hard now that Nazareth is used so much.

I like it. Would make lots of people run stuff to kill artifacts and/or Simon as soon as it comes out.

I love stuff like this. More variety in decks trying to pull off specific combos is always fun...especially when it can be stopped so easily with the right counter cards.

promo Simon of Cyrene can hold crossbeams of the cross.

Yes, him, thanks.  But you actually have to RESCUE with him to activate the ability.

So, to recap, here is how you would pull this off:
1. Activate Three Nails.
2. Have Crossbeams of the Cross in deck, discard, or artifact pile (nowhere else), must be just the last two if Nazareth is out or last one if Hezekiah's Signet Ring is active against you.
3. Rescue with Simon of Cyrene, who fits in no themes.
4. Do not have Simon of Cyrene negated in battle.
5. Do not lose said Simon of Cyrene in battle with his 7/7 numbers and lack of support.
6. Keep Simon of Cyrene, Three Nails, and Crossbeams of the Cross alive and in play through the end of opponent's Prep Phase, when they have plenty of opportunity to play cards to target them.
7. Block alone with Repentant Thief.
8. Do not let Repentent Thief be prevented/negated.
9. ???
10. Prophet.

Yeah, I think that's hard enough for a once per game ability to rescue a single soul that it will not be an issue.

This will be especially hard to pull off with all the negating going on in TEC and disciples.

I figured I would post it and see people's reactions before commenting.

The idea was to have a quasi-alternate win condition. Essentially, you have to accomplish everything Redoubter listed and then in the end, you're going to gain a Redeemed Soul and probably surrender one to the opponent as well. Since Three Nails is active you won't be able to use Gates of Hell to add a demon. Since your artifact slot is being used, you won't be able to use Unknown Nation (unless you also add Pithom). Other than that, you would need a dominant to block the rescue attempt. If the opponent is making a battle challenge when you have all that set up, then he's just asking for you to pull it off and win a Soul.

It would be unlikely to be used in current decks, but maybe if we came up with a couple different combos like this, people could combine them into a new type of deck.

Having a combo like this in addition to Primary Objective could be a fun "AWC" deck.
