Referenced Cards Upgrade (now with Sadducees and Media!)

There are quite a few cards in Redemption that are referenced by other cards, but are themselves bogus. This post addresses that. Please let me know if I missed one! (thanks to JM for pointing some out to me)

King Jehu
12/5 Brown Evil Character, WC
-King of Israel-
"When an Evil Character is Removed from the Game or Discarded by a special ability, Protect all Lost Souls from opponents instead. Cannot be Interrupted if triggered by an opponent's card or the targeting of a female."
~Same

Sodom
Silver Site
"While blocking and no Heroes in battle have access to this Site, Protect all Lost Souls from rescue by Human heroes unless a Female is in battle."
~Same

Book of the Law
Artifact
"During your Upkeep Phase, you may activate the Special Ability of a Hero with 'on a human Hero' in his Special Ability. Protect Discard Pile from opponents and cards in territory from Evil Dominants."
~Same

Elizabeth
4/4 Gold Hero, TC
"Negate Restrict abilities. All cards that search deck may search Discard Pile instead (unless the target is a Dominant)."
~Same

Storehouse
Evil Fortress (yes, evil. Just because Joseph told him to build it doesn't mean it wasn't built by someone who was an Evil Character in Redemption!)
-Egyptian-
"If a player has more than 8 cards in hand at the beginning of his Discard phase, he must place an Enhancement from hand here. If a player has fewer than 8 cards in hand at the beginning of his Discard phase, he may add a card here to hand."
~Same

Goshen
Good Fortress
"Hebrews from Genesis 32-Exodus 17* are protected from O.T. Evil cards except Pharaohs and Enhancements used by them. If you control a Pharaoh, draw a card during your upkeep."
~Same

Pharaoh's Prison
Purple Site
"While a Pharaoh is blocking and this Site is unoccupied, you may Capture a Hero of 4/* or less and place it here. When The Dreaming Pharaoh blocks, you may take contents to hand."
~Same

Samaria
Clay/Purple Site
-Deck may contain 3 of this card-
"If a Lost Soul enters your Land of Bondage during any phase but your draw phase and this Site is unoccupied, you may place Lost Soul here."
~Same

Prophets of Baal
4/4 Brown/Pale Green Evil Character
-False Prophet, Magician-
"Redirect and toss the first Enhancement opponent plays this battle. Cannot be Negated except by Elijah if Jezebel is in battle."
~Same

Elijah
12/12 Green Hero
-Prophet, dropper of sick dis-
"Invert and toss all enhancements with 'prevented' and/or 'negated' in their Special Ability. If discarded by a special ability used by an opponent, search deck for Elisha and/or add Elisha to battle. Cannot be Interrupted."
~Same

Elisha
10/10 Green Hero, CC
-Prophet, X=Number of Evil Brigades in holder's territory-
"When charging into a battle with another prophet, all characters ignore characters of opposite alignment with a draw or band ability. If Chariot of Fire or Elijah's Mantle is in play, may charge into an attack against holder and attacker may draw X."
~Same

High Priest Caiaphas
2/2 Black Evil Character
-Sadducee-
"Negate toss abilities. Give High Priest Annas, a Roman governor or Herod Charge until that character enters battle."
~Same

High Priest Annas
10/11 Black Evil Character
-Sadducee-
"If another Sadducee is in battle, set all cards in battle aside for three turns. If a Roman Governor or Herod is in battle, Cannot be Negated."
~Same

High Priest Ananias
11/X Black Evil Character
-Sadducee, X=number of your non-Sadducee Evil Characters-
"You may invert a character. First Strike. Toss all enhancements with a Convert, Shuffle or Remove from Game ability."
~Same

Media
White Site
-Deck may contain any number of this card, X=Number of Media sites in play-
"When a Lost Soul is placed in this Site, set a character aside for X turns."
~Same

Out of curiosity, why is Pharaoh's Prison purple? Shouldn't it still be blue to go with Genesis stuff?

Also, I like that anyone can use Storehouse.

An argument could be made that if there's a normal Soul in Samaria, you could take it into hand, play it down, and draw a card to replace it. Pretty sure that's not how it works, but still.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

It's Purple because Pharaoh (royalty) got Joseph out of there, not a different member of Joseph's family (although the argument could be made for it being Blue/Purple on account of Reuben).

Me too :D

I don't see how that argument could be made.

That makes sense.

I meant to say Pharaoh's Prison, not Samaria. The thought process was "take a soul into your hand, but whenever you have a soul in your hand (from drawing), you play it and draw a card to replace it." Again, I'm not saying I think that would be legal.

To avoid any confusion what about making the ability "Capture a hero of 4/* or less and place it here. When the Dreaming Pharaoh blocks, you may take a captured character from here into hand."

Oh yes, that part is intended to reflect Baker and Cupbearer's role in the story. You can indeed use that to make DP an effective D4 by bouncing out the Soul and then go ahead and Capture to get the real power out. Genesis Egyptians need a lot of help and the trigger is so specific (a single character rather than a whole class of characters like Herod's Dungeon) that I feel the large power is ok.

Uzzah ain't what he once was; even without Coliseum his counters are everywhere! Don't forget her sword cuts both way ;)

Book of the Law
Artifact
"During your Upkeep Phase, you may activate the Special Ability of a Hero with 'on a human Hero' in his Special Ability. Protect Discard Pile from opponents and cards in territory from Evil Dominants."
~Same

Well, this single-handedly takes most of the challenges of Placer Priests and throws them out the window  :P  Somehow I feel this could be broken - either through Ezra's Journey/Jehoida's Strength/etc. abuse, or preblock good side battle EEs, or Obedience of Noah abuse.

Also, I notice that this card protects evil fortresses from Shipwreck...  Seems odd for this card.

So how does this work for a mutual destruction?  King Jehu and the hero are both dying, but before King Jehu hits the discard pile, he Insteads his discard and protects LS from opponents instead?

Also, some cards referenced that are junk:

Prophets of Baal
Elijah
High Priests Ananias/Annas/Caiaphas
Land Purchase
None That Breathed
Valor of Warriors

Maybe it could be broken, but right off the bat it requires two pieces of setup and fuel to work, while being able to be countered by a single card, and only in ways already available (plenty of Teal/Green Priests for Hidden Treasures, Jacob+OoN without the need for a third piece or intense splashing, and Hidden Treasures again to make use of all the side battles). In fact, I added the protection because I thought it'd be underpowered to the point of being unplayable unless you could have it active on a Temple without having to worry about both DoN and Shipwreck nullifying it!

Thanks for the list, on it now! *EDIT* The cards that reference None that Breathed and Valor of Warriors are themselves in the wrong brigade and in the case of Jehoshaphat no longer mentions the card in its updated version. Land Purchase is already great in a GoS deck for some de facto CBN battle-winning+speed. I didn't find any card referencing any of the evil High Priests on Lackey, which cards refer to them?

It was more of a stretch for the 3 Sadducee High Priests - I was thinking of cards like Jealous Rage, High Priests' Plot, Chief Priests' Offer, etc.  They aren't identified by name, but by group.

Plus Sadducees are so bad, but could become so good with their support cards, if they just got a boost to their High Priests...

Actually, now that you mention it, sadducees have some nice enhancements and such, but awful characters. Everything is setup to make it into a good defense, it just needs 2 or 3 more decent characters.

Oh I know!  Alexander, Prison, High Priest's Plot, The Sanhedrin, U&T, Seek and Destroy, Tenants Kill the Son, Disbelieving Sadducees...  There are great reasons to use Sadducees, but they are unbelievably slow and have a lot of weak EC abilities.  That's just not a good recipe for defense.

Perhaps Sadducees would work with Coliseum, Herod Agrippa II, and Black negates paired with a fast offense...  But why not just use Philistines at that point?

I think that what they (and Herods for that matter) need is an artifact or fortress that allows them to discard something to play an enhancement. something like
"When your sadducee or herod enters battle, you may discard an evil card from hand or territory to play the first enhancement. May be used twice per game."
I don't know what it would be, but they really need something like this, then i would definitely use a herod/sadducee defense.

The big weakness of Placer Priests, besides the fact that you need a bunch of worthless cards in play at the same time for them to work, is that you have to rescue with them and then either play Ezra's Journey/Jehoida's Strength, or sack the rescue and make a better one next turn with your seeded hero.  (Ironically they took a power hit when all the new "Discard a GE" cards got printed in PC and CoW)  The ability to virtually play GEs straight from discard is what makes them potentially so strong.

This upgraded Book of the Law would allow you to recur/reuse virtually any OT GE each turn.  Yeah, having Jehoram, Elishama, Jehoshaphat, and Agur in the same deck definitely dilutes the deck's power; but the new BotL isn't an Aggro deck boost, it's a Combo deck boost.  Placer Priests would still be bad most of the time, except that time when the combo works and your opponent can't do anything.

For example, imagine attacking with Dutiful Priest that had Ezra's Journey placed on him.  Bring in Josh the HP, Joiada, and Ehud/Jael w/ Z Temple in play.  Joiada grabs Gifts and Offerings f/ Discard, Ehud/Jael puts a blocker in battle, Dutiful Priest adds G&O to battle, which fires CBN off of Josh.  Bam.  Rinse and repeat.
