Proposal: Change D2 to D1, make the protect ability have "Limit once per game"
Explanation: There's a big difference between repeatable D1 vs. repeatable D2. It's the infinite true bulletproofiness that completely messes with the defender's ability to block effectively on any sort of ongoing basis.
I agree the ongoing protect, cbn recursion, and Gideon being able to recur faith of Gideon at 2/2 is very powerful in combination with potentially multiple cbn battle winners.
This is kind of why it's a bit befuddling to me why people think children of light is problematic.. have you tested children of light or protected Gideon vs a viable defense equipped with the tools to stop them?
Well the answer is probably not because the reality is these tools are far and few between, not to mention you have to get to them generally by chance where as offenses are much more accessible.
Foreign wives is a cbn protect.. Auto being d2 makes way for this blocking option.
Stone is potentially cbn and regardless of protection.
For whatever reason more cbn evil enh and regardless of protection do not exist. I've heard it's because games need to end, but part of the game is having offensive and defensive options. Cbn evil protection barely exists. Imo cbn protection should exist much more on tc ecs (for example Rapha should be cbn imo)
Best way to solve most battles which end with 1 or 2 cards tops being played is more recursion overall, more good and evil interrupts, more add to battle, and more protect/regardless of protection cards in general. This reduces the edict/angel factor in battles overall
I honestly don't think any cards are broken or should be banned. I just think that more themes need their own options to keep up, and that the number of interrupts(especially evil) needs to be increased. Doing this well will lead to more interactive battles, less dom swapping, and a higher frequency of interaction in games all together.
For the most part the last few sets have gone in this direction but as we can see there are old dogs with the same tricks that were just only slightly squashed.
Paul is a big player in this meta and perhaps a guy I never saw at nationals who I expected to. Obviously clay can be viewed as a generally well rounded brigade at the moment with so many multibrigade things having clay.
High Priest Ananias would be way better with Good brigades as he serves a solid purpose in the meta.
