Title: New Fort Idea
Post by: Shofarblower on April 11, 2010, 02:52:05 PM
Mt. Ebal

Evil Fortress

Holder may activate a curse on this fortress. No other curse may be active, in your territory, while one is active here. If Glory of the Lord is in play, discard all active curses in play.

Deu 11:29  And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

I know the last part of the ability will get scrutiny. I chose that because God only allowed His Glory to reside in the land as long as the people obeyed His word. The curses mentioned on Ebal were for breaking the law of God.
So, if the Glory of God is present you wouldn't be suffering the curse.

This might actually bring Glory of the Lord back into deck design world.

What do you all think?

I like it, if it was made i may put it into a deck with glory, just to kill curses.

I do too. Currently, some of the most powerful artifacts in the game are curses (Captured Ark is probably one of THE most powerful Artifacts in the game). A new way to discard them would be sweet, but I also think that the Fortress' limitation keeps it from being OP'd. I like this card a lot.

Yes, But instead of Mt. Ebal I beleive it should be Mt. Gerizim.  That is the mountain where the Samaritans built an "Alternative" Temple  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samaritan#Temple_on_Mount_Gerizim) based on the Temple in Jerusalem.  For reference you can use John 4:21-20

Jhn 4:19   The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Jhn 4:20   Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

I think he was asking if Glory woudl d/c the curse in that fort as well.  If Glory does not d/c that curse then you should add something like (except this curse) or protect this curse from GotL..

I wouldn't make it Gerizim because that mountain was intended to be a place of blessing. Jeroboam set one mount in the land of Dan and one in Bethel. Dan was located far west (against the shore) and Bethel was located just on the border of Benjamin which is south of the mountains. I haven't found any biblical reference to Gerizim as the mountain the samaritan woman was talking about.

The Idea was that you (holder of the Fort) can activate one curse on this fortress. You (holder of the fort) cannot have any other curses active anywhere else in your territory. You couldn't even play them as enhancements (unless they aren't considered curses at that time, not sure of game rules on curses in that sense).
If GotL was played, all curses (active) would be discarded and one would have to get rid of GotL to be able to activate any more curses. The last ability (the GotL discard and prevent) is all encompassing. Your Territory and opponents are considered for this ability. I fixed the other abilities.
