I read the verse, if I saw your line of thinking I wouldn't have asked the question.  I don't see how mutilation translates into not banding.  Seems like it would translate into ability decrease.

In the NIV is your answer: "As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!"

Or the King James: "I would that they were even cut off which trouble you!".

I think I see your line of thinking now.  I think a decrease kind of ability would be more accurate though.

According to my professor, Paul is saying that he wishes these Jews who wish for the gentiles to be circumsised would let the knife slip in the process and "that they were even cut off which trouble you!."

Right, so you're saying that the people themselves would be cut off from the group which leads to the lack of banding?  I think Paul was speaking of the specific people who were teaching falsely about circumcision because of his specific targeting of them in verse 10.  The banding idea would seem to convey that the bad people be cut off from the group but I think Paul is wishing that the specific false teachers "get what's coming to them" so to speak.

No, Paul is saying that he wishes they would castrate themselves.

I think the Special Ability should be "decrease all males by X where X is the number of females in play. Cannot be Negated if used by the Chinese Military, Simeon, or Ruben.
