im not sure if the title is accurate but anyway,when i started playing redemption it was sometime between the priests and faith  of our fathers expansions,i didnt play against anyone very good ( sorry minion of jesus its true)
but i never used much strategy, what i tried to do was have the most battle winners i could and the best heroes.
but now i feel like you cant do as much with a deck.what i mean by that is for instance i use a genegyptians deck so, if i told you that youd know what my deck would have in it.so i feel like to have a competitive deck you need to have cards from the new sets with a few exceptions like FBTN. anyways i hope that the new cards will have cards that can be used in more than one strategy.

This is a good point, and one I have thought about from time to time.  The most popular and successful deck types don't have a lot of variability in what cards you can expect.  I will say, however, that when I have looked through deck lists (genegyptians for example), the cards you play will be determined by the goal of the deck (hand/deck discard? capture? speed?) so in that, you would have a little mystery.  If, God willing, the game continues on for many years, the number of cards added to the pool will help this along as well.

Maynid is right, it's simply a question of card pool. Any Gold defense is going to use Wonders Forgotten and Failed Objective, so if you see a lot of Gold characters you know they're in there. Where the differences come in are more on the fringe and individual flavor. For example, Besieging the City is not found in many decks, despite being one of the best Evil Enhancements out there. It's just not popular. Likewise, many people swear by the entirely over-rated Chariot of Fire, when in fact it should only be used in certain decks.

There is a lot of similarity among top decks, but--especially with the new Dom Cap--there is usually a variance of at least five cards, often more, within even very rigid deck types.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

One thing I don't like about the new sets is when I go to a tourney there is no really cool combos that I have never seen. Everyone is using the same things that I have already seen.
