I like that you keep trying to come up with new ideas, Raven. I see certain issues with this card that would give me hesitation:1.) It requires dice, which are not included in the starter decks, and (believe it or not) not everyone has lying around.2.) If my opponent has Altar of Dagon out, then I would be reluctant to play this card, because a roll of 5 or 6 would make the card do nothing (unless I convert one of my own). Likewise, if my opponent has Golden Cherubim or Rain becomes Dust out, I would not want to roll a 1 or 2.
it doesn't have to have those abilities, I was just giving an example
course that card specifically I don't mean for it to come in a starter deck but rather be apart of some future expansion set
For normal deckbuilding, you are assuming that everyone playing this card would have dice handy, and I do not believe that would always be true.
What if you used your deck as the method of randomization like in Star Wars CCG. You could reveal X cards from the top of your deck and if so many are of a certain alignment or type you can do such and such a thing so many times. Then you'd shuffle them back into your deck to reset the randomization process. This way it would be random and different every time but you would have more control of the outcome based on the ratios of cards of different alignments or types you choose to include in your deck.
I like the idea of having multiple effects, but I agree with YourMathTeacher's perspective of it making Dice a required part of the game. There is another way of incorporating this multiple effect without having to rely on dice. Depending on how this is played, if it is played as a good enhancement or an evil enhancement, you could have the following. (parenthesis are clarifications)Interrupt the battle and reveal (flip face up) the top card of the deck. Gain one of the following effects depending on the card type:1) Revealed a Character Card (Cross or Dragon Icon): Convert one of the opponent's characters on the field of battle to a brigade of your choice. (Villain becomes a hero/hero becomes a villain). The revealed card is then added to your hand.2) Revealed an Enhancement Card (Bible or Skull Icon): Add the revealed card to your hand and play the next enhancement.3) Revealed a card of any other type (Dominant, Fortress, covenant, artifact, etc.): Discard one character (Cross or dragon icon) on the field of Battle. The Revealed card is then added to your hand. This way, you have the randomness of the dice roll, and you can still get the effects. Plus this would allow you to plan ahead strategically with cards that allow you to see the top card of your deck. To take this a step further, the card could be a multicolored enhancement like "Philosophy" which can be either good or evil. Maybe call it "Indoctrination".Jesusman
