New ability type: Link

Link: A card with the keyword "link" will always reference another card or card type. Anything that happens to the linking card will also happen to the linked card, and vice versa.

To some extent, it works as a "if I'm going down, I'm taking you with me". If the linking card is discarded, so is the linked card. If the linked card is underdecked, so is the linking card. If an evil character links to a hero in battle (and the link is CBI/N), and the hero negates evil characters, the hero  suddenly finds himself negated as well.

Example 1:
Asahel
6/6 Red WC Hero
May band to a red warrior class hero or may choose the evil character to block to link with that evil character. Protected from withdrawal.

Asahel seems an appropriate choice, as his brother Joab killed Abner in revenge for killing Asahel (even though they were supposed to be allies at that point). Abner could work with a link ability as well, but let's focus on Asahel for the moment. As in the given example above, any battle winner played against Asahel (by the chosen blocker or anyone he banded to) would affect the chosen blocker. For example, let's say he chooses Woman of Thebez to block, and she plays Stone of Thebez. Asahel is discarded by Stone - but so is Woman.

Perhaps more usefully, this could also target non-characters.

Example 2:
Amalekite Army
10/11 Brown WC EC
Link to a site or fortress in play or set aside. Cannot be negated.

This, while not as powerful as, say, Assyrian Siege Army, would nonetheless be a great card. Once you block with him, your opponent needs to be very careful about what they play. Is their prophets offense only succeeding because Obadiah`s Caves is protecting them from capture and making removal basically meaningless? Make them decide whether a soul now it's worth more than two later. Is the only thing stopping your TGT deck from walking in for five that annoying Golgotha site? Force your opponent to consider rescuing a soul versus blocking you.

There could be a downside, though. Consider, for instance:

Example 3:
The Assyrian Spoilers
6/6 WC Pale Green EC
If another Assyrian is in play, link to an artifact. You may search your discard pile for Plunderers and play it.

This could be fun, but because of the double-edged aspect of Link, it could be problematic. "Oh, you linked to my Golden Cherubim? Meh, I don't really need that anymore." *Plays DoN on his own artifact to discard Spoilers and walks in for the soul*

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

I actually think this is a really interesting idea.  There are a lot of things in the Bible that are pretty clearly "linked" together, so this would be an interesting way to add that to gameplay.  It could also be a good way to get around invincible protection (ie. Thad, or Hez-Isaiah, or AutO-Gideon).

I love this idea, and would love to see how it could impact the gamplay.

Question. How does one capture a site/fortress?
Not quite a ghost...but not quite not.

What happens if  Assyrian Spoilers linked to an opponents artifact and then they played The Meal in Emmaus and deactivate that artifact?

Obviously, there are some effects that do not transfer between card types. These are among them. I would think that either there would be no effect, or the site/fort would be discarded and Spolilers would be negated.

I love the idea.  + 1 from me.  I'm working on some card ideas right now; I'd like to use "link" on a few of them (if applicable), if you are ok with that.

If an evil character links to a hero in battle (and the link is CBI/N), and the hero negates evil characters, the hero  suddenly finds himself negated as well.

I have a small issue with the quoted part above though.  Negates target abilities, not characters.  So if you want "link" to accomplish the above, then you need to include a separate description that mentions the targeting of abilities via negates.  Personally, I would like "link" to not target abilities, as it keeps the description cleaner (and negate loops are one of the messier areas of the game, IMHO).

You know, I was originally going to put a picture of LoZ Link at the bottom of the post with apologies for anyone who (like you) came expecting that. I couldn't do it because I was posting it on my tablet, though.   :-\

I would be honored!

As far as the negates go, you have a point. I was thinking that negates targeted the cards themselves, but now that I think about it, things with abilities like "negate banding" or "negate play abilities" would then negate the whole ability.

That said, I actually would prefer if it could do negates, despite the messiness factor.
