Title: Mechnic ideas.
Post by: Red on May 10, 2012, 04:04:12 PM
Battlefields.(Idea is orginally pol's)
Battlefields start out of the deck in the field of battle.
They have two special abilities. One ongoing, one instant.

Example(My own idea): Battlefield of the Soul.
Instant:You may exchange one card in hand for a demon from deck.
                                    Ongoing:Demons Cannot be ignored.

Battlefield Specific cards.(My own idea)
These cards start inside the battlefield. You may play them at anytime you have insh.
Example for Battlefield of the Soul:
 Demonic Influence
SA:Place on opponet's hero in territory. It becomes an evil character in your territory with the Special Ability "Band to a demon"

I like the idea of battlefields  but am not a huge fan of enhancements for them. I also think you could have regular enhancements that allow you to put a battlefield in play compared to simply starting with them.

I'm thinking they could actually be fortress that say place in field of battle in the identifier.

I definitely like the idea of a whole new card type. We have been playing with the same 9 or 10 for years which, although I am not complaining, could easily be slightly expanded.

We added the Territory Class enhancement in TxP only 3 or so sets ago so it hasn't been 9 years.  Still I dare say that battlefields would be amazing.

And by the way Battlefields start OUT of deck allowing the Battlefield Specifics(which aren't enhancements FTR) very strategic. But you also need to be careful with the power level of these kinds of cards.

ok i like this idea but i think battlefields should be there own seperate deck that everybody has acsess too it can be sold in starters etc then a battlefield gets randomly picked b4 the game begins. because any other way it just becomes a oh let me make my decktype even more powerful. plus with random battlefields it adds an element of surprise. there can also be cards in game to let you change battlefields mid game to one that better suits you. thoughts?

The point of battlefields is to make defense more prominent and reduce luck. Which is why it has this idea. Your idea is interesting but possibly luck increasing. if it was implemented the change battlefields mid-game cards would be a must.

yeah i agree red and i see your view i just think my application makes them more fair in use because for an idea like this some battlefields should be bad for certain decks and good for others

That's why you have a universal battlefield. I really wish this idea could be implimented.

I meant that we have been playing with 9 or 10 cards for more than one year, although I forgot about how recent that territory class card is.
