I like the idea, but there are a few problems. A bodyguard is not itself Royal, so this card shouldn't be Purple. A King's Bodyguard wouldn't be guarding random soldiers, so it shouldn't band to a Red WC Hero. A good revision would look like this:

King's Bodyguard
0/12 Red Hero, WC
"May band to a king to Protect that king from evil cards."
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Very cool card, much improved over my idea  :D  I would love to see more cards work for multiple themes

So, the entirety of the newest set of heroes shouldn't be purple? Widow and ET shouldn't be purple?

I think it's fine as a dual color.

Widow and ET shouldn't have been printed, since they don't fit into any theme. what? what? bring back normal cards!

Weak argument. Widow and ET were both printed before themes were really established (and even then, the Ethiopian Treasurer would probably still be Purple since he fits most closely with royalty). Normal cards that don't fit into any theme can be printed, and I encourage it (and I hope that in the future they will be less lame than Nicodemus). But when a card does fit into a theme, it should be in that theme's color (O.T. Warriors is Red's theme, not Purple's theme).

if ET fits closely with royalty, then Bodyguard should be purple too.

not at all. Bodyguards hold no political (it's like Royal...) office. pawns and kings.

that doesn't take royalty to do it. characters related to a theme shouldn't have that brigade if they fit better in another theme.

Which other theme? They can't protect random warriors. The new card idea says good king. Most of those are purple.
