Job Theme?
« on: October 16, 2011, 02:09:57 PM »

Pastor gave a sermon about Job today in church. So naturally when I got home I looked Job up on the REG. So obviously Job is really sweet and so are some of the enhancements. Question is, do you think this could be a good reprint/theme? It seems like there is alot of material not being used that could produce some other characters and enhancements.

For example I have come up with this-

Offerings for Your Children
Type- Hero enhancement
Brigade- Multi
Ability-None
Class-Territory
SA- Place on Hero. Hero cannot be removed from game and is protected from discard. Cannot be negated if Job is in play.
Verse- Job 1:5- "And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually."

This is my first attempt at a new card idea. Any imput on this Job idea or new cards that could be done in a Job theme?

That's a reasonably good card, but Job doesn't really need any protection with his own ability and D&A. I could see it used in other hero-lite decks though. I also don't really think more Job things will be printed because Job with Dust and Ashes is nearly impossible to beat (except for a Assyrian Siege Army and a few other things), so more Job things could make him overpowered. But it is an interesting idea.

After some thought, this card might be a little too strong.

He would then have CBN protect from discard, removal, and regular protect from capture. On top of that, I would rule he keeps the card through D&A.

It wouldnt be intended for Job, that would just be pointless. It would be for any other hero

Maybe say 'Place on a hero (or Job if you want to limit it to his use) for say 2 turns. Then discard this card.'

With this and meditation it's game over.

It would only be CBN if Job is in play, get rid of Job and the enhancement can be negated. Plus this is just a basic idea that could be improved but I was thinking more along the lines of Melchizedek's Blessing type of enhancement minus the draw ability

Melchizedek's Blessing (Pi)
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Teal • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place on an O.T. human Hero in a territory or set-aside area. While this card remains, Hero is protected from discard abilities, and each time that Hero enters battle, holder may draw a card. • Play As: Place on an O.T. human Hero in a territory or set-aside area. While this card remains, protect Hero from discard abilities, and each time that Hero enters battle, holder may draw a card. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Genesis 14:19 •

Yeah, and your original idea can be placed ON Job. When he goes into Dust and Ashes, it will follow him, and return to your hand as well to be used again.

The original idea was NEVER intended to be put on Job. I guess I have to edit that

Offerings for Your Children
Type- Hero enhancement
Brigade- Multi
Ability-None
Class-Territory
SA- Place on any Hero except Job.

There....thats settled.

The original point of this thread was to get people thinking about other character, enhancements, ect. that could be made from references in Job. There are 42 chapters of material.

Characterwise, besides obviously Job and jobs wife, you could expand Job's Three Freinds into 3 different Character considering they are all named individually.
On the Good character front you could have
Elihu- Job's fourth friend who actually argues for God Job 32-37
Jobs three daughters Jemimah, Keziah, Keren-Happuch mentioned in the last chapter Job 42:14-15- "The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers."

The only issue I see with this card is that, unless you put it on an angel... it clashes with Job's Faith.

Job with Dust and Ashes is nearly impossible to beat (except for a Assyrian Siege Army and a few other things)
My preliminary conclusion is that Assyrian Siege Army and Goliath both have made herolite with Job require more counters than are reasonable to have a top level deck.  And unfortunately, there's too good a chance to see both of those ECs at top tournaments.
