Title: Image of the Beast
Post by: stefferweffer on July 28, 2010, 04:27:10 PM
Artifact:

All single color evil enhancements with no special ability gain the ability "Convert a human hero in play to an evil character of any evil brigade except orange."

Rev.13:15 "And there was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast might even speak and cause as many who do not worship the image of the beast to be killed."

"and cause as many who do not worship the image of the beast to be killed."

If target is immune to conversion discard them instead

I like it

Are there heroes who are immune to conversion when in territory?  If so, then I agree.

I have publicly said how cool the Windows of Narrow Light promo was, and I was hoping that they would continue that trend of adding value/use to older cards.  Since Windows is a Temple Artifact, you could even make a Windows/Image deck and have both active at the same time.

Good concept, but grossly under-powered. Nobody's going to include Image an a no-SA EE which is useless if Image isn't up and isn't a battle-winner when it is.

I thought about making it "in play" or "in battle", but feared it could then become TOO powerful.  I was just thinking of another neat promo card to compliment the decks of all those players who come to tournaments but never win one match because of all their "plain" cards.

Didn't see it was in territory, even so Z temple.
I don't think it would be OP even if it were in combat, should make it a curse though so it can be targeted easier if you do.

Fixing.  Hope the flaming doesn't start now that it is too powerful :)

Much better. Now you've got potentially CBN battle-winners which are nothing more than fluff if your supporting Art gets nuked. Balanced through risk.

Whoa, what happens when you play a FBTN defense with this art?  you negate their battle winners and every card you play is a capture...This could be way too powerful, especially if you get some Art protection going like you d/c their DoN or play with Lampstand.

How can you play a FBTN defense with 1 brigade?

you wouldn't need to since these are basically CBN battle winners where you negate their enhancements.  Just splash some of each in and wait for them to pair up.

Doesn't seem very effective to me.

I would hardly say overpowered, I really like it. Would it be awesome and probably seen in more than a couple decks? Yeah. Overpowered? No.

That's only because it's versatile, which is a good thing, especially when it uses cards that are otherwise totally useless outside of Booster Draft. But yes, definitely not OP.

Thank you.  Can you explain how they could be "potentially CBN" though?  Doesn't the hero get initiative to negate or interrupt the enhancement by means of removal from battle?

I believe gained abilities are CBN by game rule.

I did not know that.  I guess this would be the first case of an enhancement gaining an ability?

It would be because the artifact is causing the ability, not the enhancement.
And it wouldn't be negated by a FBTN EC, and it would also be difficult to negate during combat.

Hehe.  A good use for Split Altar and other Artifact shuffling/negating GOOD enhancements now?

although sun worship and philosophy are the only multicolor enhancements with no SA.  since there are only 2 it might be worth it to just drop the restriction.  That would give any rouge defense deck only three such capture abilities in combo with this artifact.

Lying Unto God? Dance Unto Death? There could be more that I'm missing.

EDIT: No special ability. Right.  ;D

Idk, it seems like dropping the restriction wouldn't be a big deal, until you consider that ET can recur Philosophy. That may nudge this card into the realm of OP.
